I take offense to that. I am from the South and consider myself very educated. I am from SW Louisiana and my High School does very well. I graduate with a 3.89 a 28 ACT score(which I scored as a Junior and only took once) and am about to graduate college with a degree in engineering. I also know a lot of people around here and they are well educated.

tell me, how does your education compare to that of someone from europe?

i lived in germany for 3 years and went to DoD schools, which are on par with the best in the nation. even then, the germans were smarter than most everyone i knew.

our educational system is poor, doesn't matter how you feel about it

Well there was a study done on engineering.. I wish I remember where I read it. Basically it surveyed global companies asking about quality of engineers. The results were either American engineers were as good as or better than other countries engineers. There was 0% that said other countries engineers were better. (which is why many companies are sending american engineers over seas to work.)

i have read all this and i really was not going to say anything but changed my mind. america is not what it used to be but it is still the best country. no we don't have what we used to. i didn't vote for senators and congressmen to get a raise or to recieve the same amount of money for life for a 4 year job. give me that job. a true american would take it for free. i didn't vote yes on a lot of stuff that passed. we don't have the freedom we used to have but still have more than other countries. i went to war, i spilled my blood so you could have the freedom to complain or be outraged. yes it is your right and i hope you use it. this is still my country and i would still give my life for it. god bless all our troups even the ones that don't want to be there. war is not pretty. and i can assure you any person who is not scared is a fool. the reason our country is in the trouble it is, is because we the people are no longer the people. if we stood up for our rights and made our senators and congressmen do what our wishes are instead of letting them do what they want (power and money) we can fix this problem

thank you tony for your service..Soldiers have died and are dying to protect our freedoms and one of those is to speak out against the government when it is not serving the people. The New Deal helped a lot of people unlike Bush's Raw Deal which usually benefits the elite.

You are comparing and calling similiarity between now and the times of the Founding Fathers? lol

US = Representative Democracy

English Colony = totalitarian government hidden among a fake representative democracy in which a king placed governors who were truly in control and taxed without the consent of the people or with facing elections themselves.

toasted just admitted that you believe it is okay to be treasonous to the US government, because the Founders were traitors to totalitarianism. I'm assuming you think we are in a totalitarian state?

And Dragon, I did not say you cannot question or protest, toasted stated something different altogether.

He stated: "it's not about loyalty to the government"

If you dislike current leaders, protest them, say whatever you want about them or something we've done that is totally fine with me, got no issue with that, in fact I protest polices of some members of Congress or the White House all the time.

However, to say you owe NO LOYALTY TO THE US GOVERNMENT as a whole, the idea of the body of governing, that is traitorous.

laugh laugh laugh laugh How funnylaugh laugh laugh laugh laugh I said they are babies which they are. Hell their barely out of high school and I am now calling them all sorts of other things. laugh laugh laugh Get a grip.laugh laugh laugh laugh Now there are minds I do wonder about but it is not theirs, they have no clue what they are in for. Regardless to having had military in the family or not. The horrors of war are beyond words.

Funny? You said that legal adults who are full citizens, able to vote and thus are on the same standing as you, are "babies that have no idea what they are walking into (clueless)". Legally able to vote, wed, and given full rights of adults and you call them babies and clueless They are too ignorant and childish to make such decisions. This isn't 1941, 1964. These men have full access to vast amounts of information, they know exactly what they are getting into.

Not only do you call them clueless babies, but you now say their minds are not theirs as well? what?

How the whole fact that you are saying war is horrible and so sad these clueless drones are being led off to war to die, as stated in other posts and in ton, and yet still you are able to fill these posts with laughing faces is beyond me.

I am sorry if I consider youngsters squirts. I do. I was a young baby myself one day. At the age these men and women are going into this war they are babies.

Regardless, to all the so called knowledge you have spouted off about, they are babies in life. They know not what they do to themselves, as none of us did when we were that age. They know the small amount of life they have experienced and it is small at that age.

Maybe you are a youngster too. I have not read your profile so I do not know. If so, I do not mean it as an offense. I mean it for what it is, they are babies and for whatever reason they believe they are going to war, chances are that they will come out with a whole different understanding of what war is, if they survive it.

I never said that everything is perfect.
I am just asking, where is a better place to live?
Where is there a perfect govt. in power?

I would still say by a short lead only thanks to GW, our country is the leader of governments. Our illustrious leader has attempted to take our country down the toilet. Take our world face and turn it into something very ugly and powerhungry. But I still think we have a lead on the world governments. That said I am still pissed off that we allowed this one man and his agendas to bring us down. We are the power here and we are responsible for him being able to do the crimes he does in our name. We need to fight back. And that is very patriotic and American to do so.

Best Standard of Living in the World

The Nordic countries are overall the best countries to live in the world, according to the Human Development Report which is published annually by the United Nations. Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland figure among the top countries on the UN index because of their high levels of education, democracy, income and public health.

How many citizens does each country have? Exactly.

It's awesome they got that, but compared to most advanced countries they have such a small fraction of population.

how does that prove your point? because we have more people we should be worse off than somewhere else in the world? being that we are the richest nation, we should be nowhere but the top

Not really. They measure GDP per capita by your income divided by your population. Smaller countries with greater amounts of natural resources will have higher GDP since they have good income and less people.

Example in 2006 USA GDP per capita was $45,594 while Norway was $79,154.

meh, wealth is poorly distributed in this nation. i still believe that since we're sitting on the top, none of our stats in any area should be bellow any other country's

but you know, no matter how badly the nonrich get screwed... this is still one of few places where the "poor" have at least one car, a house, food, tv's....etc

you are very right....unfortunately it's not our poor that are in danger of a change in lifestyle. The middle class are the ones being weeded out. Our country does agreat job at looking out for the "underdog", but its our masses that get screwed.

Chazster's photo

What do you consider middle class? I mean some even say there is a lower middle and an upper middle as well. I consider my parents middle to upper middle and I don't see them getting screwed. Then seem to be doing alright.

There is a new report out that estimates that 1 million Iraqis are now dead due to our "Liberation" one million dead, truly Bush and gang are not just war criminals but monsters as well.
