Nice. I love the sentiment and the simplicity.
 Yet...Something about it grabs me as unintentionally "bitter," for lack of a better word. I get what you're conveying--that these things ("happiness," "smiles," and such) are fleeting and you wish they would last, if "just for today"--but that wording seems to carry the opposite meaning, to me: It comes off as if you *wish* this person would experience happiness *only* for today. Hard to describe, but you see what I mean? On that note, I would suggest that *maybe* adding an "if" before "just for today," each repeating line then would read: "If just for today." This would clarify and soften things a lot, methinks. Not saying you *must* do this, only a suggestion to improve clarity. All that verbosely said, good work.
