With the continuing onslaught of negative valentine's day posts, I'm resubmitting this:
Come on people, cheer up a bit it's only Valentine's day! I don't get upset about the holidays that I'm excluded from, like Lent or Father's Day (as far as I know  ) or Arbor Day (what? I just don't like trees...)! Or Hannakuh...that's 8 CRAZY NIGHTS that I miss out on every year! But do I get upset?! No! (I still drink the gin and tonica though  ) No need to be down, and that kind of brooding pessimism and defeatist reaction is only going to ensure that you'll have a hard time finding someone to celebrate with by next year! Hell, it's Thursday...that means tomorrow is Friday! This is a good thing!

It isn't the holiday that is bothersome, it is the culture that has developed around the holiday that is the problem. |

But on father's day, the entire world doesn't treat you like a pariah just because you aren't a father. First off, the jury is still out on whether father's day is applicable or not ...but yes you're right there is no fallout for not be included.

well..... its Thursday...thats a good thing...but thats ablout all this day has been good for!
My man is 10 hours away and has not called or texted or mentioned anything about the "DAY" its self. This is the only day in Feburary I dont want to be alone! Come on FRIDAY!!! |

Its unfortunate but true!!
You know, its not real tough to change your situations! I guess it can come with a little age and experience in life. Years ago i use to be "shy" and "quiet". But then I realized how much in life can be shared and enjoyed with others. Even just on a friendship type level. Instead of being "alone" I decided I did not want that..and not only did not want it, I was going to do something about it....and I have. There are MILLIONS of "lonely" people out there folks..and all you have to do is go say a simple "hello" and break the ice. MOST will accept you and talk to you. I'm not talking about "dates" and such, those can be a little more complicated..but not much. But at least you have companionship! Someone to talk to in person, tell some jokes and have a GOOD TIME!!! Don't let something like the "fear of rejection" stop you from talking to a stranger! Fear of rejection is a PAPER TIGER! It looks fierce, but once you touch it, it folds like nothing! So go out..make a friend! And who knows..the best relationships are based on FRIENDSHIP!!!
