I have dated all ages. I consider myself middle aged at 48. I have never asked a man his intentions toward marriage or otherwise after many, many dates. I don't look for one to support or take care of me. I'm assuming most of the single women here have did this on their own for many years.

I think the key is to realize why certain age groups are attracted to you. I don't entertain thoughts of 21 year olds asking me out as wanting a relationship. We do have preferences based on our temperments and personalities and energy levels. I would never rule anyone out or overgeneralize.

If you keep running into the same type of personality or traits in those you attract- your picker might be off or your looking for the wrong things. Maturity comes in all ages and stages in life. Not everyone is looking for marriage, not everyone is looking for a relationship.

I guess if I chose to draw the line agewise -if they are young enough that I could have been their mother or they are old enough that they could have been my father...that might be the limit.

Well, I agree that he's entitled to his opinion and his preferences... no arguement there... but this is just an example of how sweeping generalized statements hurt ppl. Life it is what it is, and when you attack groups you get return fire... nothin' new there.

He coulda' just told us why he likes younger women w/o even mentioning the more mature.

And the more mature could have taken the high road and chosen not to be self-absorbed to the point that they felt they were being personally targeted and that a reflexive self-defensive maneuver was somehow justified.

And the "more mature" could have stated their own preferences without insinuating that EVERY "middle-aged" woman over the age of 32 is desperate, bull headed and baggage laden. Just sayin.

Where did he insinuate such a thing in the OP? Where do you see EVERY? I'm sure not seeing it. All I'm seeing is an account of his own individual personal experience.

To wit:

I can't tell you how many times I've been on a first date with a woman over about 32 where she was asking me about my future plans on getting married before the food even arrived.

Personal experience.

So much baggage, so much bullheadedness, so much bad attitude. They blame every problem in their lives on some man or on men in general. And seem to be looking for another man to solve them. I'm sick of it.

Who is meant by "They"? I took it to mean the same women he was referring to in the first paragraph. I'm not seeing EVERY.

I never get that kind of BS from women in their late teens and early 20s. The young ones look better, are more fun and don't give me nearly as much grief. They don't nag or complain and they aren't looking for a man to replace the one that left them. Sure, there are a few maturity issues, but it's not nearly as bad as the crap I've dealt with from more mature women. In other words, it's worth the effort because the rewards are better.

So he's not getting the same reaction from younger women that he gets from the older ones. Again, personal experience. Still not seeing any EVERY.

Hey, I've always said that if you're bound and determined to find something to be offended by, you can find it. Even if you have to ignore what it actually says.

Look, I'm not going to pick every single phrase apart and argue with you here. I am merely saying that is what this appears to be saying and that is where the comments are coming from. I really could care less what OP thinks. If he can find teenage girls that want to date him, more power to him.

"....this is what this appears to be saying...." -- appears to who? There's a certain amount of selective interpretation there. Particularly if you're inferring "every" from several paragraphs that indicate no such thing.

With all due respect, if he is entitled to his opinion and you are entitled to your own interpretation, the same goes for everyone else who posted.

Great segue for my opinion which is that all the ladies are 21y/o... it's just some have more experience with it than others.

Have you read the entire thread? There were some pretty nasty remarks directed at the OP. And those remarks say more about the people who made them than they say about the OP.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, yes. They're not entitled to attack someone for having a different opinion.

You mean he's gotta fork over $100 AND feed her?
You might as well hang out with the Scoundrel at the school yard.
Happy Meals aren't that expensive.

Why should it hurt people, though? Everyone has preferences. Does it hurt my feelings when I don't fit into someone's preferences? No. Do I try to include everyone in my preferences, so everyone will be happy? No.

I did read it. And I agree with you as far as not being entitled to attack. Although I wouldn't have said some of those things myself, I guess I do not find them to be quite as offensive as you do. flowerforyou

Thank you! Actually, it takes a lot more than that for me to be personally offended. I just found some of the commentary unnecessary, counterproductive, and contrary to the idea of a meaningful dialogue.
