Topic: That's it. I'm done dating middle aged women. (a short ran

I can't tell you how many times I've been on a first date with a woman over about 32 where she was asking me about my future plans on getting married before the food even arrived. What? I just met you. Don't you think we should get to know each other a little before we talk about that?

So much baggage, so much bullheadedness, so much bad attitude. They blame every problem in their lives on some man or on men in general. And seem to be looking for another man to solve them. I'm sick of it.

I never get that kind of BS from women in their late teens and early 20s. The young ones look better, are more fun and don't give me nearly as much grief. They don't nag or complain and they aren't looking for a man to replace the one that left them. Sure, there are a few maturity issues, but it's not nearly as bad as the crap I've dealt with from more mature women. In other words, it's worth the effort because the rewards are better.

oh admit it, you like the young ones because their BS detectors aren't fully developed.

I do find it disturbingly Pavlovian -- someone says "I'm not interested in _____________________" and people who fall into whatever the _____________________ category is, immediately decide to be offended as if the general remark referred specifically to them. Then they jump all over the OP as if he had killed an adorable little puppy.

Not everybody is going to be interested in you, whoever or whatever you are. That's reality. Deal with it.

The man came into a public forum and made a sweeping generalized statement...

And that justifies the derogatory comments towards him how, exactly? He named no names, just said how he felt about dating a certain group of women. Sorry, but I see the attacks against him as far more deplorable than any "sweeping generalized statement" that refers to no one specifically.

Duuuuuuude ... there are SO many flags raised in the telling of this sordid little tale - especially that thing about preferring 'women in their late teens and early 20s'. I have to agree with the poster who said that, at at that age, they don't have their BS detector turned on. Besides, you're HOW OLD and looking for love with girls (and they ARE 'girls' - they're too young to be called 'women' at that age) barely out of puberty ... ? Sounds like a pathology to me, but hey, I'm no doctor - I just thought about playin' one on TV.

I'd have to think that your complaint about 'baggage' probably comes from not having successfully resolved your own. It's not up to anyone else to do that. Everyone walking this planet has 'baggage' - the trick is in how we handle it. 'Maturity issues' ... ? Yeah, I'd agree with that - but not about them.

Sorry, but I'll take what you demeaningly refer to as a 'mature woman' every day over one who's just starting down life's road. As for the 'rewards being better' ... that's just wrong on so many levels I'm not gonna address it. Ever hear the term 'age-appropriate' ... ? Guess not ...

Apparently it isn't just the women getting all riled up... laugh.

Methinks ashleymadison.com would be a better place for the OP to find what he's looking for. laugh

Dear Texas Scoundrel,

Doesn't look like you were very good at picking middle aged women, sounds to me like they were very desperate not all women are the same hang in there.

Well, I agree that he's entitled to his opinion and his preferences... no arguement there... but this is just an example of how sweeping generalized statements hurt ppl. Life it is what it is, and when you attack groups you get return fire... nothin' new there.

He coulda' just told us why he likes younger women w/o even mentioning the more mature.

interesting post, and responses.... time for me to chime in (because I can LOL!)...

First - to the OP: Gotta relate to much of what you have said. It's difficult to find companionship - perhaps a change in strategy will help you out! I have dated from 15 years younger than me - to 7 years older than me... What I truly find - physical age does not = emotional age. Sure, in general it is true, but a woman who asks about marriage before dinner is served (in my book) has some emotional growth to achieve... Generally speaking, if you both feel good about what is going on - F*** everyone else.

As to the point of "young women's BS detectors are not fully developed" - I think this is true in many cases, however - some young women are "old souls" and are wise beyond thier years... Just as some "older women" have the maturity level of a 5 year old...

I do think there is a double standard between women and men on this issue (where it is acceptable for older women to date younger men, but not visa versa)... not sure that these things would ever change...

Me, personally? It's fun dating younger! :)

To all the "nay sayers" get off your high horse(s), and join the rest of us human beings here down on the ground. Who are we to judge others, and how they achieve happiness. Everyone deserves to be happy in life.

And the more mature could have taken the high road and chosen not to be self-absorbed to the point that they felt they were being personally targeted and that a reflexive self-defensive maneuver was somehow justified.

Not gonna argue that... but the OP just hit a sore spot. This site has a high number of middle-aged who'd probably rather not be here (any dating site) in the first place... just sayin'

Can we all just kiss and make up? flowers

Hummmmmmmmmm I agree with Lex here no one was targeted he made a rant about his experiences within his life not anyone else but his. Well unless you have actually dated TS then guess it was not about you.................

Honestly what is funny is I have actually meet the guy in person and he does not come off as some arrogant guy. We had a BBQ at my house this last summer not only was he a perfect gentleman to all but plays a mean *** guitar as well..................

We all have our own opinions in life what works for us and what does not so what he likes to date younger women. I think he might have been misunderstood on how young he goes when he said late teens for I'm pretty sure he does at least date those above 18 which is late teens.

He likes to have fun and and party the younger women are the ones he seems to relate to more. I see nothing wrong with being with the crowd of people that you enjoy being around.....noway

And the "more mature" could have stated their own preferences without insinuating that EVERY "middle-aged" woman over the age of 32 is desperate, bull headed and baggage laden. Just sayin.

Where did he insinuate such a thing in the OP? Where do you see EVERY? I'm sure not seeing it. All I'm seeing is an account of his own individual personal experience.

To wit:

I can't tell you how many times I've been on a first date with a woman over about 32 where she was asking me about my future plans on getting married before the food even arrived.

Personal experience.

So much baggage, so much bullheadedness, so much bad attitude. They blame every problem in their lives on some man or on men in general. And seem to be looking for another man to solve them. I'm sick of it.

Who is meant by "They"? I took it to mean the same women he was referring to in the first paragraph. I'm not seeing EVERY.

So he's not getting the same reaction from younger women that he gets from the older ones. Again, personal experience. Still not seeing any EVERY.

Hey, I've always said that if you're bound and determined to find something to be offended by, you can find it. Even if you have to ignore what it actually says.

Look, I'm not going to pick every single phrase apart and argue with you here. I am merely saying that is what this appears to be saying and that is where the comments are coming from. I really could care less what OP thinks. If he can find teenage girls that want to date him, more power to him.
