If I were to wear a T-shirt that said
I'm WHITE and PROUD. Would it be racist? Explain. |

Nope! Pride is pride. There is gay pride, black pride, etc..there is no reason in my book for it to be racism to show pride without attack or provocation.

I don't see anything wrong with being proud of your heritage. Kayak and I would love to have some shirts that say "Proud to be white" with some cool design in the background. But we are almost certain we would get some kind of flack for it.

The double standard has been a peeve of mine for decades.
The correct answer is: You are not allowed to be proud to be white. You can be proud to be Black,Hispanic,Latino,Irish,Aggie,Gay,Korean,Phillipeno,Indian etc.... Us white people have destroyed cultures,oppressed minorities,oppressed majorities, enacted Aparthied and produced Clay Aieken, Barry Manilow, Rosanne Barr and elevator music. The days of white people being proud are over!!!!! Now, we gotta apologize for crap we had nothing to do with. DOWN WITH WHITEY!!!!!!! |

I'm a "White American 20-21st century Male and Damn Lucky" would be perhaps more appropriate.
I'm proud and validate every adversity I've come through. However I'd just be embarrased to advertise something so devisive, as to seperate myself by the ADVANTAGES I somehow received as a lottery won birthrite. |

yeah I catch crap over the rebel flag all the time! It's not about being racist, the flag represents the pride of the south and has become a symbol for the great american bad boy!
My Daddy was an outlaw, my hubby's an outlaw, and many of my friends are your typical non-conforming, rule bending, I don't care what others think rebels. I say what they would, "if you don't like my flag then stop looking at it and NO I will not take it down!" It's always flown under the American flag and Texas flags, so not to be disrespectful to our State or country! |

I just believe the projection of pride and self respect is a lot less suspect without a "proclamation".

A white american, especially male, is not oppressed in this country so therefore wearing it on a tshirt seems pointless. |

I disagree completely.
I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I know a few people who were but not many. Being born white aint a lottery birthright to a better life just like being black is not a guarantee to opression and poverty. That is complete bullschitt. Good lives are earned by getting off of your butts and working your fingers to the bone to provide for those you love. If other people are stupid enough to think that it was all just waiting to be handed to you on the delivery table...they are the ignorant rascists. I know plenty of worthless white trash. (human trash from most races actually) Priviledge and possession and status are earned by working when you dont feel like it....by crying at night cause you want to provide more for those you love....by crawling your @$$ out of bed exhausted and going out to work yourself one day closer to an early grave...just to come home exhausted only to do it again tommorrow. Anyone who thinks that being white is a free ride can kiss my @$$ and come try to keep pace with me at work...... |

The rednecks in my area fly the rebel flag because they WANT Texas (and the South in general) to secede, and they WANT slavery back, and they WANT everyone who isn't a Bible-thumping fundamentalist born-again Southern Baptist Christian out of their state. They're still living the Klan views around here. |
