Topic: Is it really just about the Pictures of People on dating sit

My experience on dating sites so far is that most people just picture surf, if the picture is liked, contact may be made, if not it won't end off!
It's a bit like going to a book shop and just looking at all the covers, not reading the appendix in the book, just picking the book totally by it's cover!

I think that's the big problem with internet dating compared to meeting someone in person, ie socially, work, chance meeting in a supermarket etc, you can have a chat in person, it's totally about the person then, not a picture!

You're right, it's just people don't talk to each other in person much anymore.
Profiles can tell quite a bit about a person sometimes. Some are honest, some aren't.

I'm kind of torn on this one -- on the one hand, I get a decent number of e-mails here, and the vast majority of it is in regards to something either in my profile or something I wrote in the forums. Rarely does anyone make any mention of my pics.

On the other hand, none of the people who contact me are ever actually interested in dating, so maybe that ties into your theory....?

I think your right, however I applied it in reverse (somewhat).
People I have met in person, and was attracted to. I imagine if I had seen their profile on line with a photo, and realize I may have passed on that person.
But there is alot to be said about personal conatact/connection. A persons swag can win me over every time.
No profile words or pictures can convey that.

yes you are very right, its whats inside that matters,a good heart will definitely understand evrything and anything...thats what i believe, people may be beautiful outside but inside they are like rotten eggs,,,,

Really? Because I get to know people in the forums and not really by their picture.......its more personality for me.....and its really hard for me to fall in love over the internet period ugly good looking or otherwise anyways......I am more of a presence type of person and looks haven't always entered into it for me.......

There has to be more than a good picture for me. Of course, there needs to be some kind of attraction, but if there's only a picture, chances are, I'm not going to bother contacting them.

I still think it's funny when people mention meeting in supermarkets. I've never met anyone that way.

The picture is just a beginning..has nothing to do with what relationship will be developed if at all...
we all need to keep ourselves in check when judging by a picture, after all we can put up any picture..can't we?!?!

I think the sheer NUMBER of profiles makes it unlikely that a person will read through EVERY one just because they are posted,, the pictures are one way to isolate a more limited sample, so are screen names,,,

No Dude....

You obviously have very limited experience with internet dating/picture obsessions.

Most of the internet dating experience revolves around people flappin thier yap holes incessantly about things they havent done, won't do, or lying about what they have actually done/ not done.......

At least at the end of the date, you aint gotta shave your junk to get rid of the crabs or start those damned shots for syphillus.....

You gotta look at the positives.

Honestly, how many times have you ever stopped a lady in the store? Sure I have had a few guys say HI but that is about it.
I do not just look at a picture and judge someone, I always read the profile!!!!

I think even in real life, looks are one of the first things that catches our attention. Just like you mentioned about looking for books, you are more likely to be drawn to the book with the flashy cover than the plain colored book jacket with the small writing on it.

Some of us on here in the forums get to know people by the comments we type on here (our book jacket). Say something interesting in response (the appendix) and then check out their profile, if you still like what you see, send an email.flowerforyou
