It's not so important, that's why they came up with common law marriage.

I think you are wishing to be married....Just know it is a huge commitment, filled with responsibility and self sacrifice because you will need to put your spouse first when the situation demands...Remember you will have double laundry, double cooking which requires doing double dishes...You will have to share the closet and the bathroom, put the seat down before sitting down, clean up splashes (the taller the man, the more he splashes), you will now have to share TV choices and listen to him b*tch about yours after you finish b*tching about his, you will no longer be able to read in bed, watch TV in bed, or eat ice cream in bed because the bed is for sleeping and having sex only, if you want to spend some of your hard earned money on something totally unnecessary you will need to clear it with your spouse, your mother, brother, friends, and lovers with no longer be permitted to "drop in" without calling first...Easier?....I'm not sure I would go that far....ohwell

To some no, to others yes.
For religious people, its necessary but not so important.

shocked print what Leigh wrote and check to see your partner is on the same page as you about things.

I think a lot of us are brainwashed into thinking we need marriage, or even what marriage is 'supposed' to entail. Those of us who have been in unfortunate marriages have alternate perspectives on what we need. Women have lower rates of remarrying after divorce.

that is true, and I have often wondered why. The easy answer is that we lost our freedom in marriage while the men often never gave up their freedom and got a servant, my biggest fear in remarrying is that is exactly what would happen.........especially an older gent - no matter how attractive - because his ways will more likely be traditional and I am not sure I want to go back to that. The other reason is that divorce often leaves women impoverished if they were homemakers and that breeds a resentment and a fear of it happening again. I know men have their reasons for what they do, but we are talking about women's reasons here.

Also men don't often value age in women. Most of us from long term marriages were turned in for a "younger model" by an immature 40-60 y/o

Not necessarily Restyourself....Also, marriage has a much better chance of succeeding if both people enter into it with realistic expectations and common goals....flowerforyou

i would actually rather live with the person
for marriage is a lifetime... but so is a happy solid relationship

but its easyier i would say to get out of a relationship
than it is a marriage

after i got my divorce 23yrs ago
i said i wasent going to get married again
but now i think about it. it tends to come that
way then it was truly ment to be

far to glib a comment for anyone who has ever been married to take seriously

first you have ignored my concerns as tho they don't exist. strike one. your response leads me to believe that you have never been married. that's like a novice apprentice telling a master what to do, strike two

but extra credit for the good wishes, thank youflowerforyou

Marraige is the Devils conundrum - Damned if you do -Damned if you dont. After 20 yrs of marraige , my wife tells me she hates me. This after looking after her full extended family all these yrs , spending huge amounts of money and time.I get up at 5 am and get home at 8 pm.So marraige for me shouldnt be slavery for either partner.Never take each other for granted.

marriage is made up by humans. I don't need a paper contract or some man in a dress telling me what is right.

If the promise Ain't in your heart it isn't there at all! you don't need to get married to have kids. God sure isn't going to say anything.

its a very subjective question,, to some it will be, to others it is not

for me, if there is to be an intimate connection, according to my christian beliefs, it is BEST to have one husband for myself (and to be their one wife)

to witness it before God, community, friends

and to make that vow to God, to try to continue as one unit the Godfearing behavior we had before we were 'joined by God'

culturally, its not important at all,, all that matters (culturally) is what your body wants and feels and whether you 'love' someone,,,

brokenheart brokenheart brokenheart brokenheart ?

I miss the heat and passion.
How it feels watching someone you care for doing what they do.
Looking in their eyes and feeling the caring.
I want to be wanted. Not just needed.
I ended the marriage I had with the woman in my profile who had the cancer. She is better and wanted to be closer to her kids and grandkids.
I thought it would be okay. It's not and I'm free again.
Perhaps the next one will work out.
For now, I will just date and get to know them.
