Topic: Would separate bedrooms enhance a relationship?

It seems many people may respond to this question with a resounding, "NO WAY!", but only out of a fear that their "live-in" partner or spouse would rarely want to, "sleep over". However, Lucy and Dezi had separate beds (of, "I Love Lucy" fame). If you were mad at each other, no one would be told to go sleep on the couch, or be countered with, "You're the one who's mad...YOU go sleep on the couch!"
Even your sex life together could be enhanced.
I know of a couple who have a two-story house, each floor complete with a kitchen, bathroom, and private entrance for this very purpose. They share the garage, giving them the chance to "bump into each other" and make up. If only the walls of that garage could talk! VROOM-VROOM!
They've been revving each others engines for quite a few laps now.

One situation is just separate bedrooms, the other situation you mention is basically (LAT Living APart Together)

I think it's just swings and roundabouts, just what people in the relationship require. Normally in a relationship the only sex you have is supposed to be with your partner, while many ppl need to have sex with themselves sometimes / regularly / often. Usually it's not the done thing to do this when the partner is right there beside you, so ppl have to do it sneakily in bathrooms or when the spouse isn't around.
Separate bedrooms would allow both parties more personal freedom.

Furthermore sometimes partners have different sleep/wake rhythms, so it could be handy to not sleep together so you don't disturb each other.
Or one is a light sleeper and the other tosses and turns all night long.
I know a couple where the woman snores so loud, they decided to have separate bedrooms.

I actually think I would like it. Not if the question is separate beds in the same room. No way would I go for that. That makes me feel rejected. But separate bedrooms, I could live with that, many advantages :) Of course you need a big enough house and most houses over here don't allow for that.

the reason my they slept in seperated beds was the producers thought it would be to scandalous for a family show to have them sleeping together regardless if they were married .thiers a few other shows like that .the dickvandyke show they both slept in seperated beds aswell

All of this and more!! When I was a young girl (like the songlaugh ) I never considered separate bedrooms....Now that I am a single senior:tongue: I think it is a great idea!...Along with everything Crystal just said, there is also this....I love to climb into bed with a good mystery and read for hours...Sometimes I enjoy watching TV in bed...I've been know to eat ice cream in bed tooblushing ...Then there is snoring, ugh...and restless sleepers, and flatulation (double ugh), and trips to the bathroom (an age thing)...all can be romantic spell breakers...Having separate bedrooms would be a great way to keep a couple's sex life hot and steamy...I love the idea of slipping out of bed in the middle of the night and surprising my man with an erotic wake up call....

That may work for some, but personally, I'm gonna want him in my bed. I'm just selfish that way. drool

Thankfully, I don't snore or toss and turn andcan sleep through just about anything, so if he takes over the guest room...we have problems. brokenheart

I think enhance describes it perfectly :) I think it has the power to, but only if you're really genuine about wanting it to work out. If you're not that bothered about how it turns out, it may not work. If you've ever had to sleep in a room on your own, after drinking Vodka, well, let me just say, it brings on the urge more than if you WEREN'T drunk at the time. laugh. I once slept in my boyfriend's sister's room, because he was too ill, and it was the only spare bedroom in his house (she'd moved out to live with her man). So it's not like I was being punished. He was just puking all night, so we thought it would best to sleep separately, after a night on the town together.

lol old people like the idea.
im not 'that' old, so no, absolutely not. its just way too weird.
kinda defeats the purpose of living together.
like why bother? they can have their own bed at their own house if thats the case.

Personally, no.

For me, spooning is what its all about, even if it gets you a faceful of hair! waking up next to the person you want to be with, cant beat it happy

Still, each to their own happy

After picturing myself with the pillow over my head trying to drown out the snoring of the man beside me, my first instinct is to scream YES! That would be lovely! yawn

But no way. I couldn't handle it. I need to touch my man. I don't care if it's just my big toe on his big toe. I'd prefer draping an arm or leg around him, or him around me, but I just wanna be touching someone I love when I drift off to neverland. Somehow I actually feel like the love flows between us and is stronger somehow when we touch, if that makes any sense. Yah, I'm strange and I know it. shades
