Report and block them. The site will handle them

Hi,

I would love to, but how can the admins differenciate?

Would be nice though, and its so tempting to name and shame the people but you cant really without concrete proof.

This all reminds me of what it was like on
meetme.com, which used to be yearbook.com.
A place where you go to talk to different
people.

It really didn't seem to be a friendship driven
site. Was just a place where guys tried to
pickup women. Most of the time, I'll bet
nothing ever materialized out of it.

One thing I remember happening, was they had
these models, hot young women who were actually
scammers, e-mail you or click on the "like you
button.

Oh, at first guys were jumping with joy
thinking this gorgeous young women was
contacting them, including myself. The
smart ones got the picture pretty much
right away though.

Its just needless. People praying on folks looking for something positive in their lives, and it aint right.

Im quite lucky in that i signed up for this with no expectations, just for some friendly talk. Dont get me wrong, if someone local popped up and were sincere, a PUBLIC meet would be something id possibly consider, but im not sure. Its pretty much impossible to judge someone over a keyboard.

If you are doing this with the best of intentions, then good luck to you guys.

The fakers can take a long walk off a very short bridge....

The site can tell. This is one of the best site for getting rid of them but we can't catch them all. The members have to notify us. don't go off site with someone because it's out of our jurisdiction

Hi Yellowrose,

Are you part of the admin team from this site, if so I can message you the details.

Lucky for me I just laugh that crap off, but it may be a good thing to stop it happening to others.

Thanks

Speaking on fake profiles.
Is there any way to spot Gubament paid trolls pushing their agenda?

I'm a moderator. It us better to report the profile using the report button and explain there. That way there is a log

I get a lot of emails asking for my yahoo, or facebook. I respond by telling them that If they want to communicate with me they can do so on this sight via email, im or the forums. Once they see I am not willing to go off sight, they usually leave me alone.

Done!

My guess is the person in question is African, but as I say its just a guess.

These people are clearly stealing peoples profile pictures from social networking sites and using them on places like Mingle2, which is more or less a form of identity theft.

Anyway thats it been reported, heres hoping its dealt with

Reporting is one thing but they will just rreload and go again. Key thing is just to be aware of the scams and just because we'd like some attractive and available person to show interest, not to be gullible. Unfortunately, they'll continue to exist because they can, because people fall for it and it makes it worth their while.

Yes, it has happened, I don't give out email addresses to complete strangers. I am strange that way. Does nobody want to chat and get to know each other first?

when I first got back some months ago after a short hiatus.. I was bombarded daily with scammers.. you can spot most of them a mile away.. all I do is click REPORT then BLOCK after I'm done reporting them.. it's easy really.. just click, drop a quick word or two saying "scammer" then whammo.. they be GONE!

lately I get a few a week.. guess I ran the gambit on the last 'rush' of frauds.. but I concur with a few others here.. do NOT go OFF the site.. tell them it's free here so why waste time going elsewhere (like into your personal email) that's when they get your private info and either steal your identity OR just try scamming you for your money thru email.. just not right noway

anywho.. there ARE plenty of REAL NICE people on this site.. just got to weed out the crap first.. the forums the best place to find the real ones though.. good luck! drinker

slaphead forgettin how ta spell again ohwell

When they try to give me their Yahoo I just tell them that they shouldn't do that because of scammers.

Frankly, if you talk to anyone on here that doesn't live in your local area that you don't know from the forums you are stupid. What's the point in doing that? Oh yeah, it's because you are desperate enough to waste your time on someone that you have very little hope of ever meeting even if they are genuine.

Anyone else here had someone message them to ask for their email address, but found it a bit fishy?Just had one where someone claiming to be from a certain country, when going from their grammer and style of writing, were blatantly from somewhere else. Its not just someone that cant spell very well, trust me. Seems a bit dodgy they ask for your email address and give you a life story which is realy hard to believe....

i never give out my name, email or personal information online.

Well every once in a while ill play with one and let them think they're getting somewhere lol love the sob storys about how one of the family members are sick and they don't have the money to help them out, or im an American and im stuck in another country because i lost my passport. It goes on and usually you can tell by the way they type. Llike i got this message the other day. I looked at the profile and everything seemed normal until i red the message. It was like if they copied and past someone's else's profile, but the message was nothing like what they typed on their profile.
