I think its horrible

The purchaser is the real culprit... pitchfork
Actually its equity theory in practice women trade their looks and sexuality for successful males who can afford to keep them in a lifestyle to which they both aspire. the last research i found said that approximately 30 percent of marriages were based on equity and dont ask dont tell.. Not suggesting this is right, but with the average person married three times its time to look more honestly and closely at what we define as marriage as its shape and context are definitively changing Theillegitimacy rate for african americans is over senventy percent and whites at twenty leaving a lot of unattended, poverty stricken, under socialized children counting on school to provide food, advice, counseling, parenting , clothing, transportation and often ignored medical, dental. visual and school supplies...we have a generation of lost. alienated, and disconnected children ... Sadly the hardest job is to bring up a child and yet we dont even plan for their arrival as so many are born without being planned and the result of ignorance, lack of concern for others and future responsiblity....

Spoken like a true male chauvinist...laugh No, it's the purchaser...The practice started because men controlled wealth, thereby controlling women...Think World History, not 21st century economics...

Haha, it's evening again, although still early :) Must be 10-11-ish in the States?

It may suck to some but thr are people who need to make a living an thts all thy no how to do.so don't judge wht u don't no... "just saying" an thr are people who have been forced to do the job.

All they know how to do? I doubt that. If you have the physical ability to have sex you have the ability to do many jobs. Maybe not glamorous or easy jobs but certainly safer and with more future.

I do think people end up selling their bodies out of need. The fact that you can physically do a job, doesn't mean to say you can or will get a job.
And I don't agree that you can physically work a job if you physically can have sex. Very narrow-minded. There's loads of ppl with fibromyalgia, for instance. They can have sex, but can't work most jobs.

I see nothing wrong with it as long as they are medically well cared for with regular checkups
And who says working in the SEX industry is NOT a job...
I think if the U.S. for instance had MORE professional availability
For men to just buy the sex they so obsess over
There would be FAR less sex crimes here...
Of course they would have a need to organize and ensure good health and safe sexual interaction...

Ok, I get why some would take up such a job. If you had children, and jobs were hard to come by [and they are], I could accept that. As a last resort. It certainly wouldn't be at the top of my list though. ohwell

Really? What was it that you didn't enjoy about it?

I've got this friend who has a brother that is disabled and I mean severely disabled and he isn't going to be able to get a girlfriend but he asked my friend to take him to see a prostitute for his birthday and he may be in a wheelchair and he may be mentally retarded but he's still got a normal sex drive and needs.

As far as diseases go, you go to a proper brothel and the girls are clean and they use condoms. The junkies and crack hores are outside on the street.

Prostitution is pretty much legal here and it's right out in the open. A mate of mine and I used to drive about the red light district hooker spotting for a laugh. If I wanted to shag a prostitute I could do that anytime that I wanted and this city has loads of legally run establishments with nice looking girls that are experts at getting guys off. I choose not to do that because I don't need to and it's not what I'm looking for. You go to a pro and it's your party and not about pleasing her. All she really wants is the money, although she may prefer one customer to another.

Women go into prostitution for different reasons and so do some men. Who is exploiting who and what's horrible about it?

If you didn't like it, then just don't do it again. That's my advice.

I have a daughter who has had severe crippling fibromyalgia and has continued to work non-stop since diagnosed. Her job was a nurse in the trauma section of a hospital emergency room which required intensely stressful and physical exertion. So, although I understand you're not talking about everyone not being able to work such a job, it does make me believe it's more of the determination of the individual involved as to whether they want to have sex as an easy way out in some cases or be determined not to resort to that type of money-making employment. JMHO

I have nothing against hookers. I know there are women who are sold into the sex trade and that I find disgusting. But for those who go into it because they want to. I feel little to nothing about it. I hope they do things to stay safer. But there is a risk of just about any job having it's dangers.

I once talked to a hooker from Vegas on twitter and basically said I wouldn't pay a hooker for sex. I look at it as a high risk thing with all the STD's. Her response was one of the dumbest things I had ever heard. First she said something like All the hookers of the world unite as if all the sudden I was supposed to get a bunch of angry hookers spamming my twitter feed. Then she went on to say the only person she knew who had AIDS was someone who had sex and wasn't a hooker. I don't remember everything she said about that. But she then went on to say that she got tested monthly weekly or how ever often as if that was keeping her from getting an STD.

Getting tested doesn't keep you from getting sick. It hopefully keeps you from spreading that crap to other people. It's up to each person to look out for their own safety in all things. So I maintain that I won't pay for sex. Only sex toys. hahaha

My question is when aren't people having sex for money?

The lady waiting until marriage...He still buys a ring(money) to get to the honeymoon(sex)....of even she is trading sex for "money"

The lady who waits AT LEAST 3 dates before she "gives it up" 3x"dates"-oney=Sex

The lady who has a one-night stand with that cute guy at the bar that most likely bought her several drinks(money) and then "sex"

At least the prostitutes are upfront with the "price"

What about the gentlemen?...Lots of guys with no money marry/sleep with women who have money so they (the guys) can get money...And there are male prostitutes too Isaac.... Although they are not nearly as up front with the price as the female prostitutes!!

I remember the first date I had with my last girlfriend. I took her to the park and I had a hot dog and she wanted a can of coke.

I invite a girlfriend round and I offer her a drink because she's a guest in my house and she would do the same if I was a guest in her house.

Dates don't equate to money. When I met my ex girlfriend she just visited me at my house and as I recall, she was the one that brought the bottle of wine round the first time we had sex. It was my birthday, you see.

We did go out on dates as well but she put her hand in her pocket and payed for the meal or drinks if she had asked me out and if I took her out it was my treat.

Seems pretty simple to me and I'm telling you that I don't pay for sex. They just have sex with me because they want to and I even had a woman refusing to let me pay for her taxi recently because I guess that she didn't feel right about that.

UNQUOTE
Having worked with many women who have tried to say that prostitution is the only job they can find I can tell you that is in all but maybe 5% of the cases just an excuse in any developed country. In a war zone or somewhere movement is restricted by a dominant criminal force I would agree that prostitution might be a matter of short term survival but any woman, who can openly chat on a computer especially, uses prostitution as a choice because it is acceptable to her.

Using a disability to justify being a prostitute is balogne. There are billions of women with disabilities, some quite profound, that still go to work and/or survive on whatever subsistence income they receive without resorting to being a prostitute. Maybe they have to set in a wheelchair and run a sewing machine, stand at a sink and wash dishes by touch because they are blind, be a janitor because they are deaf, or play with children at a daycare center because they are marginally mentally retarded (too name four I know personally this very week) in an economy that is very depressed but no they do not chose to sell their bodies.

I think saying normal dating and marriage where couples share time and later make the choice to have sex of their own free will is not prostitution any more than saying a man/women having "casual" sex is prostitution. Prostitution is where both parties agree it is a transaction and money changes possession for a specific deed.

And as far as "pro's" being safer than amatures or drug whores then explain to me why they have to be regularly checked and treated for disease? The reality is if you see a "pro" you are seeing a female that has sex with sometimes as many men as there is hours in the night or more. If you delude yourself that woman is clean then you must think eating out of the sewer is safe.
