As of Dec.1st i have become officially unofficially homeless!
Most of you that have viewed my pictures on here never seen my project i've been working on now for 2 years"Barney" a 1987 School Bus i've converted into a Motorhome. I moved into it permanently in Dec.after liquidating all other property i owned for the last 30+years. I live where i work with no rent or utilities to pay with the Company having 24hrs.security if i'm there. It really works out good for all involved. Rent here runs around $1400.00 with utilities for a 1 bedroom apt. therefore giving myself a raise. My property taxes decreased from $4000.00 yr to $124.00 yr.and i'm in the Country next to a Lake on 86 acres. Yes I can cook, have heat&ac.hot & cold running water, restroom, shower, satellite television ref.freezer, all convinces necessary plus mobility. The way i figure it if i do meet someone "we either kill each other or get along?" Anyhow there you have it "Full Disclosure"like it or not. But the stress has been more easily tolerant for the last 30 days!! And it is Very Comfortable and better built than a normal RV. Any Questions??laugh

I had this idea a long time before they started airing those shows! 3 years ago i bought a 20 ft.camper when my Daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and moved it on her property to help out. It was the worst thing i lived in for a year!! Nothing was convient in there ,and Cold as hedoublehokeysticks in the winter.Last night 14 outside and 74 inside. I heat with propane(100lbs.) at $75.00 every month. Cosy:smile:

As long as you are happy; that is what counts. I couldn't live in something that small as I would get claustrophobic. I like my nice big spacious house as I need my sewing room, my workout room, my storage rooms, etc. Good luck with you ad glad to hear you are happy.

 Thank You Navygirl glad to see you show up on here!! I have plenty of room outside for all of that and my own private shooting range, fishing lake and acres to sharpen up in!! Without the "gimme a dollar" or all the communion you get renting an apartment. The gates are locked at Closing time(i have the keys) and anyone inside after that is"fair game" no evidence left behind"plenty of BIG TOYS to dig holes plenty deep? laugh flowerforyou Just what i need, besides i think i'm too (damaged) now for caring anymore.

Mmmmmmm,one question though;

Can I join in?
Living near that lake means, one can fish any time, right??
And hunting grounds-easy game meat,right??

Yaaaaaay,am in!!

Congrats Wolf! Seems you've found one way of toning down stress factors...

People often talk about simplifying their life and perhaps it works out to a few bags of extra stuff taken to the local "Good Will" charity.

You're taken it a giant step beyond most people's comfort zone! And I say: "Way Da Go!" Sometimes we just need to rethink what it is we really want and then stand on our tippy toes so we can see what's outside the box! "Way Da Go"! flowerforyou

That is an awesome job.

I'm working on an 18' mini home.

Mine will resemble Snuffy Smiths cabin.
It will have a 14' living space and a rustic porch in back.

My biggest problem will be finding modern rims. It's a 1948 travel trailer frame and has the original split rims.

 Next year i plan on getting a 53ft.moving trailer
( like a United or Mayflower dropdeck) and converting it. Over the 5th wheel is 8ft long
2 ft.higher than the deck there making a balcony bedroom, then the lower living room, dining kitchen area, walk in shower tub combo, then over the wheels enough storage for water heater water system,top-water storage etc. On Tractor generation power to work everything. On all the trailer sidedoors weld together, hinge at bottom for drop porches canopy tops, fold out siderails. with sliding doors! I've already got it blueprinted and documented. Just waiting to start in spring. Yes i have a C.D.L class a with bus endorsements but this Won't be a Commercial Vehicle and a regular drivers license is all you need to drive it (most people don't know this) Just like my bus its not Commercial!!! Just giving everyone some ideas, For Free!!! Check Your State Laws! happy

It's great if your happy with it... I'm with Navy girl gotta have my space....

Already paid off my home so the cost is not that expensive to maintain... taxes run around $1,400 a year then just the normally utilities....have a big backyard to enjoy...

Even though I do enjoy the country and being at the lake I"m only within 15 miles of two lakes..... Have several family & friends that have boats so still get the best of those worlds too...

I have seen others that have done the same as you and even thought about it myself....But realized I would not be happy in such a small space at least not for now...

But it is a great idea for those that it works for them... Looks like you have really done a great job and have it at a idea place at that...

I really like seeing pictures of how someone has built their home on wheels... it is amazing of what you can do...

As far as being materialistic I'm far from that I have a older house I have worked and paid for by myself....

What I have I have worked hard for it.... But my house is far from fancy or anything in it...

It all comes down to what makes one happy and a home on wheels is just not for me...

I'm one of those that have to be grounded with a bit of space.... My house is under 1400 square ft but big enough for me...

You must live in nice warm area as it's -21 here and the only thing outside here is plenty of deep snow. I don't think you are damaged for not caring any more as I feel the same way. My experience with dating has been nothing short of a nightmare and I found people are truly messed up so why put myself through this crap. I am happier being on my own and I enjoy the time with friends and family. I certainly don't need a romantic partner to fulfill my life.

I've actually done this too! Had an RV, a Fifth Wheel and lived in that for a year, then sold it. But I thoroughly enjoyed living there, and it is amazing the things you can learn to live without, although I had every modern convenience in the Fifth Wheel. There's great satisfaction in knowing you really don't NEED everything you thought you might need. Enjoy your life! I totally understand it!

Agree Texasgirl. My house really doesn't have much that would be considered materialistic. I have a sewing business so yes; I have a full room of sewing machines and material. I work for the Police services and the military; so I have two closets full of uniforms that I have to have. I hate public gyms as they cost a fortune and you have to wait to use machines; so I have my own gymn in the basement. I am a music teacher; so I need a room to rehearse and repair my instruments. I also have lots of tools to repair or build things; so I have my tools in the basement as well as my garage. Not to mention some of my camping gear is also stored here as well as a small freezer as buying fresh food all the time isn't convenient when we have -30 weather and 4 feet of snow and damn expensive. I also entertain a lot as well as having house guests that need a bed to sleep in. I don't think any of that is materialistic as its necessity for my way of living. A small trailer isn't going to work with all the hobbies and things I enjoy doing.
