Silent treatment is a form of sanction that involves ignoring a paticular individual,neither speaking to that person nor responding to his or her words.We have someone around us (a partner,spouse,family members) who is fond of doing this or possibly we are the one that gives people the 'treatment'.personally,i think its wrong and even wickedness.I feel issues should be resolved ASAP,even if anyone should give the silent treatment....maximum of 5minutes to cool off and get your speech together.What do ya think? Does it help/affect a family/relationship? It makes things worse and I dont tolerate it in a relationship. I do give time and space, but we will work on our issues. |

 This may sound stupid to most but here goes; When my Daughter went to bed there was always(a kiss goodnight and i love you)! I kissed my wife and said i love you before going to work! Question : Would the last thing said between each other if a tragedy were to happen (be nothing?) But again that's just me thinking of Today and guessing everyone else has a guarantee of tomorrow? Guess i forgot this is cyberspace and everyone lives forever as long as that keyboard and computer is there? If that one isn't good then (click) another key? Most of the reason a relationship doesn't work there is always (((((((((Cyberspace))))))))))) Who needs to try anymore?

That may be why some people do it. Other people do it for other reasons, like claiming space for themselves, to find peace. Silence can be a form of manipulation, but demanding that someone engage with you is coercive. |

To me the silent treatment is when someone is too afraid to face the truth, if you can't speak your mind and be done with it than you are too much a coward to face me and I don't need that kind of person in my life!!
