I'm a martial arts fan as well.. I actually hold a brown belt in karate/samurai using swords, weapons etc.. also sort of got into Kendo.. this of course, like you, was in my much younger years..

so yeah, action movies with the likes of Bruce/Brandon Lee, Jason Statham, Jet Li & Jackie Chan and even Keanu Reeves rank top in my preferences.. although not so much with Scott Adkins or Steven Seagal as their acting isn't the greatest (imo)

the John Wick series is awesome.. I heard they're even thinking of a #5 which would be cool.. and of course there's Ballerina an offshoot of John Wick that has a lot of martial arts action in it too..

Personally enjoy a good Historical film, specially if there's good acting involved.. like 300

I was told I'm Greek (just had a DNA test done so I'll know for sure soon YAY soo excited) by someone about 20 yrs ago and when I was in Athens back in '09 walking thru the streets a resident walked up to me and said "hey.. you're greek!" which was weird but cool at the same time.. it was an old man and he just blurted it out.. back then my natural hair colour was dark brown almost black and very curly.. but I digress again laugh

Greenland & the Fallen series are good too.. have'em all on HD's..

my vertigo doesn't want to leave me alone.. ohwell I can't even watch someone on a hi-wire act or standing on a cliff looking down etc.. sends me for a loop and I have to look away..frustrated royal pain in ma tooshie.. laugh

wow.. sorry to hear about you pulling a muscle.. that hurts like the dickens when it throws everything outta whack.. been there.. happens to me too.. usually targets my mid back first.. and when I usually force myself to stop and relax for a bit..

for me it's mostly bruises.. I only notice them after the fact.. next day I'll be like "where the heck did YOU come from?" or "how/when did that happen?" laugh

it could be "not feeling worthy" for me but I typcially feel like it's more "not wanting to impose on others".. my dad used to say "try figuring out a different way of doing things so you don't pester others" which is probably why I come up with a lot of weird/wild solutions to problems.. that and he often said "there are no problems in life.. only solutions" and probably why I'm a pretty inventive solutions finder biggrin

for me a best friend would be great.. if it evolves into something else? awesome.. if not? all good winking

The only good thing for FishingMan is that it's mid-week & not a weekend.
Might get lucky and make bail by Friday - or some day ending in "y" anyways.

Luckily, the few sweeties worth a dayum know about my dual citizenship & won't disappear just because FishingMan got tossed in the gulag for a few days.
There are actually three of me in there but I gave up on the other two.
One of them didn't even get onto the board, got scooped up so fast it never had a chance to write a profile or run a search even.

Banning accounts is a game as old as forums.
I've been able to stay ahead of any such actions in the past on other forums with the use of VPNs, alternate emails, and shifts in syntax & grammar to conceal my true identity - but it just isn't worth the bother here since 99% of the action is only scammer accounts anyway.

Back in the early 2000s, before they shut the whole thing down at the end of the decade, I used to work as a volunteer in Yahoo Chat Help:1 & Yahoo Chat Help:2.
Stephanie Bergman, who was Yahoo's administrator over all of the chat rooms, got us volunteers involved in a game amongst ourselves whereby we would create new identities that had to at least hint at who we really were.

By my count I had some 330+ separate accounts on Yahoo Chat, most of them a twist on either IdioT_SavanT_i4 or Anonymouse_I_Dentity.
xxxxi4_1, xxxxi4_2, xxxxi4_3, pumpkineateri4, vampirei4, frankeni4, santai4, etc. etc. etc.
There was an endless supply of Yahoo emails available & everyone always got "dressed-up" (changed IDs) for holidays.

What it did was keep us recognized by other help volunteers trying to serve users with problems, while escaping "booters" who might have objected to our work developing "booter-proof" chat clients with 3rd party developers & tried to knock us off chat entirely.

That was some of my best times on the interweebz, often going for 30-40 consecutive hours straight laughing, chatting with dear friends all over the globe, and fixing problems with user's chat client operation (even telling people how to fix unrelated stuff, like a dead burner on a smooth-top stove or how to change the brakes on their 1985 Mustang).
I learned a lot about a lot of things from some super-intelligent peeps there.

well.. ya didn't learn how to cram all that into a 2 sentence rant laugh

wonderin where Crystal is..

She's the smart one.
She took the vaccine & escaped this lunacy.

yuppers.. mind you.. she took her straight-jacket with her.. ohwell

I've known a couple dozen vets over the years.
Some fought, some just served, but to a man (or a couple of women too) they have something in common with my youngest, who was in the Naval Reserve.
They don't want to talk about it.
Go to extraordinary lengths to avoid doing so.

My best and only remaining besty male friend served on the A-Gang aboard the USS Frederick LST hull# 1184 during the evacuation of Saigon in 1975.
Over more than 5 decades that's still about all I know about his 4 years afloat, other than his A-Gang used to sell access to unlimited-length hot showers under the cooling outflow from the water desalination plant - a very high demand item on a tank landing transport in the South China Sea.

okay so.. how the heck did my query set off this rant?

Not sure if I've given Annika a whirl... I'll have to watch an episode to find out.

LOTR and The Hobbit are great! I never read the books, just the movies.
I also like The Hunger Games. And the Divergent movies.

As for King Arthur... Have you seen King Arthur Legend of the Sword?
Brilliant movie! With Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur.
The movie is shot the same way as "300 Rise of an Empire". A style of filming I absolutely love for certain movies.

Crystal you HAVE to give Annika a whirl.. I think you'll like it..

I have all the Hunger Games but haven't watched them all yet.. I also have the Divergent series of flicks and watched them all... enjoyed those.. kind of miffed the 4th was cancelled tho.. bummer

ANYTHING King Arthur/Merlin I've got and either watched/read.. so yup.. Legend of the sword is on one of my hard-drives..

OMG I LOVED 300.. just amazing.. IMO.. one of my fave flicks..

I'm a huge Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham fan as well.. so when they played together in the 2015 movie Spy I just about peed myself laughing, especially at the blooper scenes.. it's an Action/Comedy.. and if you haven't watched it.. you def shud..

Don't really consume alcohol other than to taste it occasionally.
German whites in my cellar back to the early 2000s.
Auslese goes really well with lobster & tenderloin, walleye, & New England clam chowder.
Got any flower, maybe a gummy?

It's legal for you, I still live in a 1930s prohibition state.
For a supposedly progressive state Wisconsin is remarkably resistant to change on that particular vice.

I don't consume either.. aside from the occasional (extremely occasional) german white.. wait.. wha??? hmmm.. *zee wonders if ol'coot has any vintage alsace pierre sparr stashed in that cellar of his* drinker if not.. I gots a few here meself that I'ma savin for a special occasion.. or right before I expire.. bigsmile pairs well with lobster AND t-bone..

plenty of bud up here too.. huge variety at the corner store.. and even a few spare gummies.. if yer of mind.. smokin

edit: actually, dependent on the year.. that Alsace can be French OR German drinker
