In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?

Thought you might like to read the following:

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;

2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);

5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;

6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Quote of the Day........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.' -- Barack Obama

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K-tax $18,750

Married making 125K-tax $38,750 Married making 125K -tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:

Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us.& it. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

sorry dude...forgive my naievete

I missed the bill that raised gas prices. Could you reference me to a page which outlines the rate schedule which Congress enacted to regulate gas prices? I'm flaming indignant about this.

Paste is also rising in price. I hope Congress does something about that, though...because that'd really blow if I can't make collages anymore.

Democrat Congress causes gas to rise? Wow... news to me how congress controls the price of anything. I think a republican with his head too far up his own @$$ thinks his sh*t doesn't stink.

laugh Very funny and nice try, but not even slightly true. Confidence in this country has shot to the toilet since Bush came into office and continues it's down slide. All of the problems mentioned were in the works before the 2006 election.

But nice attempt for whoever compiled it at mudslinging on the Demslaugh :wink:

my biggest problem is anyone biased. I have seen several in this forum who are very very much so. They immediately without proof shoot down all of this information. Here is the simple truth. They are all rooting for the same team. It would be RETARDED to vote for anyone wanting to pass laws granting the government more power, or to expand the government. I think i pretty much summed up both parties. Bush isn't the enemy guys. We are facing MANY of them. Until people stop trying so hard to pin the blame on one single administration, and believe that by simply changing the party will fix things, this country will continue to roll downhill steadily. We need to become more self sufficient, the federal government needs to have less power, giving a little more back to the states, and for god's sake will someone revamp our foreign trade? (Bush's and the Clinton's were both pushing for foreign trade) I have not seen a single candidate that will fix a single thing. SERIOUSLY. No one. Come one guys. Open your eyes. "ending the war" which is an impossiblity, will not change things. There is no single answer aside from taking more responsibility, and become less dependent on your government to solve all your problems. If there is someone starving at the end of your street have them over. Give them money. Work as a community. That is our only answer. And don't vote for anyone that wants to expand the government, or give them more power. And yes democrats do cause higher taxes. But republicans are no gems.

It is interesting that so many of you take one little fragment, the price of gas, and jump off on that tangent when you can't refute the rest of the text Typical Liberal Socialist tactic, if you can't refute the facts, change the subject laugh Fact is things have become much worse under the present democrat controlled congress and they haven't done a thing to try to improve the situation. They don't want solutions, they want issues to help get them re-elected. Why is it that the liberal socialist dominated congress has one of the lowest ever approval ratings if they are doing such a fine job?

Their approval rating is low, because they let Bush get away with the **** he's done!!!
True, they did nothing, but not being able to stop it, and being the one initiating the policies destroying America, are far different entities.

The Republicans had a majority the first 4 yrs, plus control over the justice department, (remember Gonzales?) The Democrats still dont have a clear majority. Definitely not enough to over-ride a veto, otherwise the war would be over.

Yep, the neo-cons had a well executed and designed plan, and they weren't concerned with what anyone else thought about it. For sure not "The People!"

eh, it's hopeless... People are are the simple-minded party system beliefs. Lets see. This would be sterotyping. Independent is the way to go now-a-days. It's the only true position. Maybe if people would forget democrat or republican, we would be better off. Look at personal views of your elected officials. Does he or she have your countries best interests in mind? Or are the just trying to make themselves sound good by preaching change change change, and promising to help the underdog? Porkbarreling, illegal immigration, the patriot act, NAFTA, outsourcing, etc. These are all situations that need to be addressed. Smaller government. More community involvement and responsibility. Bring back some of those farms that the government has been trying to get rid of for decades. Start voting for people who actually care about our rights and aren't focusing on more gun control, or making laws that allow you to be arrested for your appearence, or if people THINK you are a threat of some kind.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.

This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.

Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.

The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

this one too

...a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles...is absolutely necessary to preserve the blessings of liberty and keep a government free.

Yeah, we are slowly killing our constitution.... think about it.
