Its different for each child bro, and it is that attitude of "3 years odl and not potty trained thats weak" that causes a lot fo the problems. It causes a lot of people to emphasize and push for it, when the child is not ready to learn, and thus causes problems with learning.

Tell him that the potty is hungry and that he needs to feed him...lol. Really, it worked for me. Then, have him sit on the toilet and read him a book while letting him drink something. Eventually, he will need to pee. Tell him he did a good job of feeding the potty man. I swear kids really believe this stuff. Oh, and plenty of patience.

It may not be her job....but potty training is a 24/7 job. She can surely help and it is pretty neat to know that you can tell him about it later when he is all grown up...lol.

I know soldiers and college kids who are not potty trained. They still get drunk and piss wherever they can...lol

And here I was about to share the old saying ... they're not wearing diapers by the time they hit college, so sooner or later they'll figure it out on their own. Guess some still should! Huh?

Actually my 4 yr old son is starting to have accidents now... only bowel movement accidents... and I do think it's about not wanting to quit playing. Right now he has to give up something he loves with each accident. And he gets a lollipop with each success.

Funny enough the accidents only happen at home and at dad's... at school he wouldn't want to have an accident in front of his friends.

I dont know if anyone has said yet but boys have two sets of muscles one for peeing and another for pooping. It is easier to get them to pee first and pooping later. My boy is 3 and is not potty trained yet and this is normal everyone has their own pace. I learned with my girl that you can not force it with some kids it does not always work that way. I let my kids go to bathroom with me when they are young and that seems to help them get the idea down. GOOD LUCKbigsmile flowerforyou flowerforyou

when i was potty training my son, i would let him run around naked. but i know that this doesn't work for everyone.

i was kind of lucky b/c my son decided at about 2 that he was going to go on the potty.

seeing as how the 3year old in question is mine:wink:
i am fine with that and as soon as I am off school I will try thatflowerforyou thanks

Sometimes my son comes to the bathroom with me just for a hug and he likes to flush the toliet for me. Kids are weird and what ever gets them bathroom friendly will help.

If he starts to go to the bathroom with you just include him in the tolet flushing and washing of hands to build up the good bathroom habits.flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

I just got my 2 1/2 year old grandson potty trained (my son and daughter-in-law are in the Air Force and were deployed at the same time so I have the kids). This is what I did, it may work for you and it may not, depends on the child. I didn't let him tell me he had to go potty. I told him "let's go make bubbles in the potty". As he went it would make bubbles. I took him in every hour to hour and a half. I also took him out of the pull ups and put him in old fashioned training pants! When they have pull ups on they can't feel that they are wet! (I did put them on at nap time and bed time to keep down on messes during sleep.) Make sure they go potty before nap time and bedtime and then as soon as they get up. My grandson likes lollipops, so as a reward, when he goes "poop" he gets a sucker. One thing that I did also was sit him on the potty backwards, facing the tank on the toilet. They have to straddle the seat but they feel a little more secure. They have the lid to hold onto. Just make sure to wash their little hands when they are done. Gook luck to you...potty training is not fun and very time consuming, but it has to be done.flowerforyou

Every child learns at a different pace. My nephew didn't potty train until he was 5, he heard from a child in his sunday school class that you don't use the potty until you are 5. On his 5th birthday he went on the potty and never had any accidents after that. My neice basically started training herself at age 2 1/2, I think she got sick of waiting for my sister to help her, she'd just stand in the bathroom crying and going in her diaper until my sister figured out she wanted to use the potty.
