Empty Nest Syndrome yet? How did you cope/get through it?

Don't get me wrong.. while in our late teens, early 20's..we have lot's of friends, go out partying, just having fun in whatever we choose to do. Then we get married, settle down, have children..we tend to give up our party life and even let some of our friends go by the wayside. But, that's ok.. we have our new life with our significant other and children, they become our everything! (which they should) Then some of us, like myself, divorce. My children are older now.. my oldest will be 22 in October, he moved out of state back in Feb. My youngest is 17 and still lives at home.. but he doesn't want to be hanging around with mom.. he has his friends and is gone every weekend doing something with them.

So here I am.. weekends, ALONE...not much to do.. I know I need to get out more, make new friends, date..but it saddens me  ...... Just wondered if anyone else is going through the same???

yes, at times it is very nice..peace and quiet. But for the most part it's very lonely.

I bought a 1 bedroom house so they couldn't move back.
Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but they gotta know how to make it on their own

I figure when and if she ever gets out of my hair (not holding my breath) I will finally be ready to think about having a man in my life.

My tune will change then, Fade, just wait. I will be calling you for girl lessons.

Yup Jules, it happens at different points in your life. If I can find someone who just wants to hug and cuddle that would be fine with me. I know what you mean though. Stay strong and things will happen!! *hugs* Jeff flowerforyou

I've got a 20 year old daughter that pretty much just sleeps at the house so I never see her and I just got divorced so I'm pretty much an empty nester.
I have been doing kung fu for a while so I keep busy with classes and work.
Also joined a adventure type dating group so they try to come up with activities for singles to meet other singles.
I'll confess that it is quiet and lonely the rest of the times though.

Hmmm, kinda understand since moving out of the house last Aug. My girls are 15 and 17, and they live with Mom, we're still close but its not the same as the every day every day.
And living alone has been different too.
