Time and time again I hear people asking how to approach someone, or they're not sure if someone likes them or not... and the standard answer I see is "just be yourself" and everything will work out. We're always telling people just to "be themselves" However, it occured to me tonight as I was watching Bridezillas... what if these people are just naturally b****y and mean? And just telling someone to be themselves gives them the green light to treat others like crap, because it's "who they really are". Do you believe that sometimes, some people are just naturally overbearing, needy, and b****y?

I am watching Bridezilla right now. Sad, but those women are pretty crazy.

Yes, some people are nasty and they should still be themselves because if they pretend to be nice, eventually they are going to break down and let the real personality out; and meanwhile they may have fooled someone and wasted that person's time.

The best advice is still to be yourself.

Yes, sometimes people are naturally that way...and sometimes it even works for them! I'm always puzzled when I see a really great person with one of those high-maintenance, overbearing people. huh

However, if someone is naturally that way, I'd rather know up front instead of being sold a fake version of who they are. So the best advice to those type of folks is really be yourself, and to the rest of us it's be TRUE to yourself...and don't settle for their BS!

I understand there is wisdom in this advice, but finding the person who's looking for that is taking forever!
