Topic: How do you use the word "Love"?

For me, it still has a special meaning...
I really like certain things, scuba, skydiving, motorcycling, pizza, steak, breakfast. I do not love them.
I can love someone as a friend, a lover, family, even a pet because there is a feeling or emotion involved.
Is the word love being used too often and making in ineffective as a descriptive word???

As for myself I think it is overused. In instance the way you stated you like doing things but you don't love them. I love my two daughters, and my family. I would do anything for them.

i think so too. people nowadays tend to use it freely, which makes it seem less than its meant to.

Myself I think too many have forgotten what love really means and tend to say it with out even meaning it.

I say it with true meaning. When I love, I love deeply.

I have a tee shirt that says "Love Sucks but True Love Swallows" I think it's used way to much to take it as serious as it used to be.

I might be caught saying "I love going to the beach" or "I love french fries"...but in reality, I only truly love a handfull of people (the rest are dead) & my pets...I find it very uncomfortable when someone says "I luv ya'" right off the bat...I'm thinking "No you don't...you don't even know me"...so yea...the word LOVE is way overused...

I agree. It is used way too much in generalization terms. The word love is lacking the sincerity or romance that it use to.

Don't just tell me, show me!

Luv ya!

there is a reason for the abbriviation and why it's "luv ya" and not "I Love You". If someone try to tell you that he loves you, and he says "luv ya" instead, you know the doesn't really "love" you.

I believe this is something that will show more in the actions of the person in question....Anybody can say they love you but only through their actions will you see the truth.

Love is real,
Real is love
Love is feeling,
Feeling love
Love is wanting
To be loved.

Love is touch,
Touch is love
Love is reaching,
Reaching love
Love is asking
To be loved.

Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
We can be

Love is free,
Free is love
Love is living,
Living love
Love is needing
To be loved.

"No you don't...you don't even know me"...so yea...the word LOVE is way overused...

People don't love enough because they think love needs to be exlusive. Exlusivity is the problem in our world. Like love needs to just be for romance, certain neighborhoods have to be for certain people, etc. When you become a stickler for what something HAS to be, especially love, you weaken it. If I have a lot of money, and I want to help people; I would give to many people. But you would say; find someone and give it all to them. There is a difference between ''love'' and ''in love''. Nobody says ''I am soooo in love with this pepperoni pizza right now''. As for what I quoted earlier, if your gf/bf says ''I love you''; smile and be happy, maybe say it back. If they say ''I'm in love with you''; then you can get all neurotic about what society as a whole accepts for your life in terms of WHEN it's right to say that.

Our world is not a peaceful place at all. People are cold, hungry, getting blown up and shot, there's all kinds of prejudice; and you all think Love is overused? Fine; keep ''in love'' to yourself and only use it sparingly, but spreading around general love from an open heart is exactly what our world needs.

In conclusion; I love the Simpsons, I love Metallica, I love sunlight, and I LOOOOVVVVEEEE all of you! I'm not in love with any of that, but so what. So there you go. Just my opinion.

I'm thinking you might have taken that out of context. I think she was referring to people she'd just met that said that... J M O

Friends I love differently than a S.O.
When I'm dating someone, and they bring up the love word in a short time, I question the sincerity of it all. That kind of love should never be spoken lightly.

I'm going to stop using it alltogether, seems most people find the term worthless...no point in committing time to something when it all falls apart inevitably anyway. I found a better word anyway, nihilist.smokin
