So I'm in the Navy and apparently there is a certain stigma that we are horrible, womanizing, cheating, blank holes.
Is this the general consensus of people?
If it is...we should talk.

yup that was my experience too

you have to find women away from the Navy towns

but have hope. it's much cooler to have been in the Navy than it is to be in the Navy

You are correct sir, that song did not help...
It just seems that women in a Navy town are Jaded. They must have been hurt bad by a Navy guy.
I do know that it is incredibly hard for a relationship to last in the navy because of all the underways but nothing good comes cheep right?

Nope, I know plenty of great people who were in the Navy.

It's the same around any military base for any military anywhere in the world. I spent 9 years in the Army, and we had to deal with the same BS. Getting blamed for what I did is fine. Getting blamed for something someone did 5 years before I got there is wrong.

Moondark,
I too have met great people in the navy. In fact, the best part(only good part it seems sometimes) about the navy are the people.
I have made some great friends from all over.

I think I've seen it in a few movies...how military men at sea are characterized with women. And I have heard about some of this too. Why the Navy? Beats me. Army, Marine, Air Force should have a part to this too. Can't just single out a particular military. Some people can't handle being alone. *Shrugs* Welcome newbie...hope you find someone that won't judge you straight away because of the word "Navy".

"Dogs and Sailors Keep off the Grass"

Amen my friend! I was on deployment and the rules and regulations my ship implemented was based on the conduct of a 4 or so Marines.
When it comes to the image of the United States military, they don't mess around.

Well my ex was in the marines and he told me alot of things he did especially in Japan and the Phillipines and I can tell you most was pretty shocking. But I know and hope most men are not like that.

I'm sure there's a lot of personal experience. I don't personally have issues with military men in general. My ex was Navy and he was an ***. A friends son is in the Army and screwing his CO's wife. Another close friends hubby is over in Afghanistan and he and his buddies are awesome guys. I've been chatting with 2 gents who are ex-military and are good men.

Pros and cons.
