At what point in ANY relationship have you known the other person is worthy of your trust? Do you give 100% trust or hold some of it back?

Nope, I have a hard time putting my trust 100% to someone... Time will tell when I can put my full trust on someone. And to answer your question, no

once i am personally and romantically involved, everyoen starts off at 100%. it's up to them whether they stay at that level or if they decrease.

however, any tom, d!ck or harry on the internet starts off at 0% and it's up to them to decide whether or not i'll ever believe in them.

The loyalty and honesty of a dog is never in question. You know exactly where you stand with them.

Too danged bad the same doesn't apply to humans.

i would think that the lesson one learned in this case would be to not trust that particular person again.

surely, someone wouldn't want to be lumped generally with all the other people who've wronged another? otherwise, we may as well all give up trusting anyone, or expecting the same in return. how depressing is that thought.

Maybe I should be on the SPCA site instead lol. I've certainly had my share of ppl that misrepresented themselves. After you've been burned enought times, it's hard to give trust without at least a little skepticism. But then, how do allow yourself to surrender to your feelings of love and be in the relationship 100%, like you're supposed to if your past experiences have taught you otherwise.

Time will tell my friend... they have to earn my trust. That's how I do it.....and only time will tell when I can fully trust them.

I believe that trust is a very special gift to be offered to another person. Unfortunately trust is so often misunderstood or mistaken by dishonest people who seek only their own gratification in a relationship. Grant trust only where certainty is certain and that the receiver of such will reciprocate.

I do not put 100% trust into someone right away, they have to build the trust with me.

Same here. "Trust," for me, is pretty much extinct now.

I'd like to think I trust everyone until they prove me wrong (and then it's very hard to regain!) But I've recently come to realize that building walls (or whatever protective mechanism used - and everybody has one) is a way we demonstrate distrust. If you really trust, why the need for the protective mechansim???

Maybe I'm more jaded and cynical than I wanted to believe so will work to change that, cuz I don't want to be that way. ohwell
