when I was a kid, at the 1962 Texas state fair, I picked up a dime off the ground and being a little kid, I stuck it in my mouth

my mom said "don't put that in your mouth you don't know where it came from. some mexican may have had it in his hand"

that is the old school thought in Texas and it struck me as weird when I was a little kid

now I know that it is just the oldtimer way of thinking in Texas

When I would ask to do something and my Mom would say no and I would argue that everyone else was going she would answer, "If your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump too" I hated that line>

OK....figure these out....I never could!!! My mom was from Missouri and often said these quotes:

When we asked where she was going, she would say, "Going to Omaha for a load of hogs."

When it was really cold, she would say, "It's colder than a well diggers butt."
