The state of Utah is having their bi- annual
"click it or ticket" campaign this summer.
So I got a seat belt ticket last week...
It's a $52 ticket, no biggie, done. Ya get 2 weeks
to pay the fine or you have a warrant for your
arrest.

I don't like seat belts, I don't want to wear a seat
belt and I don't like being forced to wear one.
I think this is one of those personal choice things.

I never wear my seat belt and never got a ticket for it. It's the law around here too "Click or Ticket".

Seat belts, like motorcycle helmets, should be a matter of personal choice. But I'll tell you what, if you ever get into a situation where you need one, you'll be damn glad you had one on.

wow, really? why did they ban the guns? I know Fairlawn actually has big boards on the side of the road that tell you your speed when you pass,,,,,did they change the technology in Butler or just get rid of it altogether?

This is my first...I've gone along time without getting a ticket for sure. Now I'm wearing one and I don't like it.

We still have the signs (but very few)Too much money for the radar guns..they wanna work on unpaved roads(which they should have did before i was born)So a city council vote 4 to 3..do without radar guns..appeal your speeding ticket in court(your word vs officer)or pay itspock slaphead

I do not think it should be dictated what you do as an adult, but I think the laws should remain towards children being buckled in.

I don't think it should be a law for adults.

After spider-webbing the front windshield in a Jeep with my head and then having my head go through the rear passenger window in a Saturn when we got T-boned on that side I started wearing them all the time.

I don't really care about dying in a car crash but being permanently injured in one scares the hell out of me.

Just put it on! Get one of those fuzzy covers for it and roll in style.

If you gt into a wreck without it on you will know regret. They do serve their function.

Hummmmmmmmm I did not like wearing seat belts either till I got that first ticket for $75 here. Which now are $150 I heard ... But then the first time I had someone rear end me going about 60 and I was stopped. It was well worth wearing the seat belt:thumbsup:

Seatbelts that stick scare the h>ll out of me and the ones that tighten up with a simple trailer on the back sucking the life out of you every time the trailer bounces. Airbags majorly dangerous.....hate those things...I would turn everyone in my car off if I could.....the impact hit to the head causes major damages

the reasons (I think) that the states are involved with this (even if it's an adult) is because of the cost if someone is seriously injured or killed because they didn't take whatever precautions they need to.

Example: If someone got into an accident without a seat belt, the auto insurance may not cover the cost, depending on what insurance you have and who is at fault. Some have medical insurance but may not be able to pay the co-pays.

The costs usually get passed onto everyone to cover all of the accidents.

And then there is the cost of 911 if it's serious that the tax payers pay for.

I could be wrong, but this is how I would see it.

Some people have full auto coverage and medical insurance and can pay the co-pays and deductibles, but many can'tohwell

I had a friend who was cut in half when his seat belt malfunctioned. It was 25 years ago..I still remember, killed him. Maybe part of my issues about them...that and I'm a rebel without a cause.

kidding about the rebel part...

I personally like wearing a seat belt. Not because it makes me feel safer, but because it actually helps to hold me in my seat, especially in an emergency situation if I deed to swerve to miss something.

A very long time ago, when I was quite young, I had a deer jump out in front of me. I managed to swerve and actually avoid hitting the deer. But during that manuver I slid across the bench seat of my truck and found it quite difficult to drive whilst sitting on the passenger's side of the truck. I almost ended up having a horrible accident simply because I almost lost control.

Ever since then I've always worn my seat belt, if for no other reason than to hold my body in the seat should I need to do some wild manuevuring.

However, having said all of that, I'm with you. I think it's a stupid law. Especially considering that people are still out there on motorcycles. I mean, here you are being given a ticket for not wearing a seat belt, all the while a group of motorcyclists are passing by the traffic cop. Are they wearing seat belts? Of course NOT! In fact, strapping yourself to a motorcycle would be a really stupid thing to do!

But the point is that it's just as stupid to demand that motorists wear a seat belt whilst other people are permitted to travel on the same highways with basically NO PROTECTION at all. I think most states even gave up on the helmet laws for bikes.

Let's face it. The seat belt laws are just a gimmick to get fine money$$$$$$$$. And then the police departments have the balls to also call you up on the telephone and beg for donations after that! whoa

Open containers legal in the State of Delaware for passengers.......they do not take federal money and maintain the legality of it and place responsibility of DD. Summer resort and as long as you abide thelaw which we do because we do not wish the privilege taken away.
Oh yeah a passenger in the back seat only.....do you know how many of my friends fight to sit in my back seat, since I rarely drink.
