How many people you think settle for someone because of the fear of being alone?

What about miserable and alone than 'whatever' with whoever?

yabut...Im not miserable alone...I think you have to learn to be happy with yourself before you can have a healthy relationship. I look at my life as a sweet, multi-layered delicious cake. If I meet my forever man, that would be the most wonderful icing on my cake. But in the meantime? Im sure as hell going to enjoy my cake while Im waiting. flowerforyou

laugh I keep telling myself the same thing!

Seriously tho - I agree. Considering that none of us is perfect, however, there is always going to be things we accept about our mate that we may not totally agree with. I guess it's a matter of finding someone where those issues are pretty insignificant overall

like accepting that someone might not like to stay up late, is qualitatively different than accepting someone who is abusive or dealing drugs or such

I've done that before -- it was always a mistake.

I'd get to the point where I'd think "It would be nice to be with somebody" and then someone would come along who SEEMED OK -- but really, it was more about convenience and opportunism than any sort of genuine relationship.

I found that, while being alone isn't the best-case scenario, it sure beats being with someone and WISHING I was alone.

I would say the majority because it counteracts their fear of the opposite sex. But then some people are just paranoid so I wouldn't let it frighten you.

I think a better question is how do you know if you are settling or just have unrealistic expectations?
If you never found the one and don't know what that feels like how do you know you found it?
