Topic: Is Waterboarding Torture?

Absolutely amazing that some think television program and movie plots can somehow be used in real life situations. The reality of the evil in this world is far beyond the fantasy of television. Get real!

Pouring water on a towel placed over the face of an enemy combatant is in no way, shape or form torture, it has proven to produce no lasting physical effect while allowing the interrogators to gather information that saved many American and others lives. And frankly, I couldn't give a rats *** for a captured terrorist; if he is withholding intelligence information that can save innocent peoples lives, pour water on his face till he gives it up.

Torture is what the terrorists did and continue to do to thousands of innocent people, blowing limbs off of their bodies with IED's. Or how about slowly sawing innocent peoples heads off with a dull knife while being video-taped so the terrorists can televise their cowardly acts to the world. THAT"S TORTURE!!

And for all you bleeding hearts, I HAVE laid on the floor with a towel over my face and had my unbelieving friends pour water on my face, what a joke! Hold your fricken breath! I held my breath for over two minutes and then exhaled hard to suck in more air so I could hold my breath longer. It's no big deal! So many people simply have no clue and are manipulated by the bleeding hearts of our world.

I'll tell you one thing, there are many evil people in this world that would like nothing more than to kill every one of us Americans. If we can save ourselves by pouring a little water on their faces, big friggen deal, DO IT!!!

This is one of the most idiotic diatribes I've read in a while!

You should audition for the Bill O Really or Sean Wannabe show!

Let me and my friends waterboard you, rather than your friends, and then repost this crap!

If it's not torture, then why is/was it used, what could they possibly have garnered from it as far as usefull information, and why are we having this discussion? noway frustrated

ANY murder or diress inflicted upon another is torturous to that person, and it happens every day.... so do we torture in return for the crimes committed? You are saying we should drop our Constitution and rule of law, become like 3rd world countries in our laws?

Prick Cheney would be proud of you!

as a rape survivor, I can wholeheartedly disagree,,,I am still alive and not dead is nothing like DEAD

murder is a different category than 'duress', even though I dont condone rape or sodomy as an interrogation technique, I understand and condone using non fatal 'duress' to obtain time sensitive information

That's only because you have entered the dark side and it has entered you.

pitchfork pitchfork

Absolutely amazing is right. I suppose you never stopped to wonder why these people attack us? Realy we have every right ti invade Iraq after all saddam was the mastermind of 911 and he had nuclear and biological weapons. NOT.

What would you do as a patriotic american if say China invaded us because some one inTiawan flew a passenger jet into communist headqourters?

I imagine if you had the courage you would make their stay unpleasant.

Would it make you a terrorist if you took action against them?

People realy need to think these things to their logical conclusion.

Just realistic?
That is language for "I have embraced my fate and joined the dark side."

You have lost hope of entering the light.

What would Jesus do? Would he approve water boarding and torture?

If so, I'm glad I'm not a Christian.

no dark side

asked and answered,, I dont know what jesus would approve of in terms of military tactics,,,

He wasnt here as a soldier

being 100 percent human, and mortal, we have an instinct to survive. Jesus permitted himself to be sacrificed , tortured, 'killed'

but I dont take that to mean that he wouldnt approve of a christian fighting for their life if it was in danger,,,,

,,,as always,, its just not that black and white

I think the more you embrace love, the clearer it becomes.

My heart breaks when I see man's inhumanity to man and dances with joy in the light of love.

Jesus called us to love our enemy, not take up arms against him. We are to pray for those who persecute us. We are to turn the other cheek. We are not to resist evil, but to allow love to overcome evil.

How can one torture another human being - for whom Jesus died? How does one reconcile that?

"Jesus died for you, but I’m going to have to waterboard you anyway."?

"Now, you might be innocent...but dont worry...because waterboarding is only torture to the guilty."

Innocent people are welcoming the opportunity to demonstrate their innocence by being waterboarded, all over the world I hear.

When you get to heaven you might be waterboarded before you actually become a citizen - to find out if you committed any sins that heaven didnt know about - and whilst you are in an 'offshore' location the rules of neither heaven or hell apply.

this is an example of using part of what happens in the bible and applying it to ALL situations

Jesus also said

Matt. 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

but Jesus spoke with common sense and figurative language

so to try to use either situation as an application to ALL Situations is faulty,, in my opinion

It would be a big post if I used all the bible...

Jesus also said

Matt. 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

11 people, 2 swords, no slanty board and a bucket.

but Jesus spoke with common sense and figurative language

Did he?

Actually I agree with you. I'm not even slightly religious. Survival is the strongest urge of all living things and when it kicks in, well you might as well embrace it.

It is my opinion that was not a nice thing to say and it reflects badly on the person who said it. (Not talking about Yellowrose)

yellowrose10 is a moderator to the site. She just tries to keep things civil by warning.

It is/was hate speech. Not what the warning was for. In general opinions are allowed, abuse of the priviledge is not. It was not personal, simply a warning to some to better express themselves without the abuse factor included. flowers

As do 99% of all Americans, but most of us love the Constitution or Bill Of Rights that allows us a trial by a jury of our peers, represntation in that trial, and the belief that all are innocent till proven guilty!

You torture someone, sure they'll say there guilty, and tell you anything you want to hear, and swear to it!

You truely do dwell within the dark side! Your judgements are premature, intolerant of unknown factors, and purely based on suspitions!

Guilty till proven innocent...... NOT so American in my book or opinion!

Our judicial system may be the laughing stock of the world, but our laws and rights are what separate us from those you may deem as "terrorist", and they do allow for error....NOT TORTURE!
