It seems like a lot of men are afraid of women. But what they are afraid of is rejection.

Like in sales, you have to realize that you probably have to make ten sales calls before you make a sale. Unless you are a terrible salesman, you will sell something if you keep making sales calls.

Improve you product and presentation.

(That would be yourself.)bigsmile

It's an analogy. but we all have something we are trying to sell. Don't kid yourself.

O yeah,I was kidding bit little, but I think it is again one more generalization topic.

Anyway,I'll also generalize little bit as it is a general tendency of most women to keep waiting for men to take a lead in those matters, they usually want men to propose them & I guess that's the reason why the question that u asked arise.

Gurl......This is SO true. Men fear failing a lot more than we do. Its the male bravada snake that won't seem to die. But in the context of a salesmen...its clear none them or hardly any truly sell themselves to the highest product. And they wonder why they're still single. What have they got to lose when zero bets have been made?

It's more that they are tired of being rejected not really afraid. So they have made their minds up to let the woman make the first move and until this happens they go on with their lives.

I have heard this before - and I think it's a cop out because often when a woman makes the first move things do not work out because either conciously or subconciously the man prefers to make the first move and pursue.

If a man doesn't make the first move I assume he is not interested. If he waits for me to make the first move I would assune he's just in it for what he can get and not really all that interested - just wanting to take advantage of my interest, so to speak

I prefer to make the first move. But she has to give hints she is interested.

Where does the thought of rejection come from? Its a cop out no matter how you slice it. That's playing games, it doesn't matter who makes the first move. I guess its more of thing if women do. Personally it doesn't matter. If nothing happens then no one gets anything.

it may not matter to you who makes the first move, but it may matter to others - it is simply a prefrence

I would not work well with a man who waited for me to make the first move - that's not my personality style nor is it my preference for reasons I have already stated - I don't quite trust men who wait for women to pursue

We all dislike rejection.
Men and women alike. so Yes fear of rejection is a "cop out".
As the Op suggests........
We all have to make an effort to make ourselves more of a.....

Desirable Product.

If it ain't well packaged, tastefully advertised, or like fine wine,
if it hasn't aged well......

WE ain't likely to...........Buy it!!!!!

You hv put that very nicely sweetest & I think it's not only you but almost all women usually thinks that way.

IMHO it is natural & bit necessary too, else this world is full of opportunist.

right - I think a lot of this comes down to WHAT do you consider the first move to be??? We (wimmin) prolly make the first move more often than we think - but in ways that cab be subtle

well we may miss some good guys that way too as mariah alluded to...I really don't worry about it all that much - but we all have our own comfort zones - IMO that's fine...

Too many men make this mistake. I guess I lost a lot of friendships with guys when all I coulda done was do the chasing. Why can't we just both be mutual about it? If we're communicating right it shouldn't be a huge issue if we're still interested in each other. I personally love it when a man tells me how much he feels for me. The same with if he's not. Just tell me. It saves me a lot of trouble trying to read your mind constantly.

I guess they wait for women to pursue because they want to be sure they're for real or not. Me? When I'm going into something I am sure of completely, there isn't a doubt there otherwise.
