I'm mostly optimistic, although I realize in some portion of my brain that in reality, chit happens. That can make you sad, for sure...and while it's sometimes tough to FIND the dang rose-colored glasses, they are my preference overall. It's been a tough couple months, actually...but the glass is still half full.

I think with billions on the earth, there is more bad than good, or there would be far fewer surviving

but I do realize people arent perfect as well, and some people have learned not to care about others and to disregard life enough to harm it,,,

I guess i'm an optimistic realist. lol. I try to see the positive in everything. If i don't, then my overall health has a chance of declining rapidly. I have no choice. Stress only makes pains worse.

I'm an optimist. When bad things happen I look to see how I can turn it positive. I treat people the way I want to be treated no matter how they behave towards me. I am not a pushover and will not be taken advantage of but I refuse to stoop to the level of someone who is ignorant. I happen to like rainbows and butterflies. From my experience, a positive attitude can be infectious. There is bad and negativity in the world but I have no intention of adding to it

I don't confine myself to one, I can be all three. Sometimes the glass is half full, sometimes it's half empty, sometimes it's just a glass.

I think it's interesting that when people describe themselves as "realists," they then talk about all kinds of negative things. In reality, there is neither bad nor good. Things just are. We humans assign the value judgments "bad" and "good" to facts. I wouldn't want to live in a world where there were no value judgments, but I also have found that these vast generalizations don't contribute to my happiness. So I try to stay as close as possible to neutral in my predictions. Hoping for the best, NOT expecting the worst but knowing there's a (slight) chance of it happening, seems to keep me from being as miserable as I was when I let negative thoughts control me.

I refuse to label people "bad" or "good." People are very complex and mysterious. You can never know what is going on inside them. They may not know themselves. They may hurt you terribly, they may do awful things, but that doesn't mean they are completely bad. People can do unimaginably horrible things without remorse, such that you could wish they had never existed, but to me, saying they "are bad" is useless. They're dangerous, put them in jail, try to reform them, whatever, but I don't see how calling them bad adds anything.

This may be a distinction without a difference. But I have found the hard way that what you focus on is what your life is like.

well its great to be reliable, ambitious, hardworking, confident, honest, respectful, decent ,in a optimistic realistic way in life rather then have a figment of ones imagination in a pessimistic view of thinking negative all the time ,a great positive outlook in life even when your down can help to a degree, till reality sets in and then the mind starts to think and looks at facts and then boom , you can become negative then you need to think positive and over ride the facts and say maybe theres more facts out there that can help in a different way ,a optimistic way so you can be positive in life and never give up hope :)cheers all have a great day:) biggrin
