Just checking in and offering support on this fabulous Friday the 13th. I consider them lucky...if everyone else is throwing away their luck, I may as well catch it!

Positive outlooks on life are critical to health, happiness and really help budge the scale too! Honest!

Yay, Penny!

Hi Everyone,

My doctor does NOT ride me to give up coffee. She says I don't smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs so I can have my coffee with sweet n low and soy milk. I tried giving it up and put on weight instantly.

I have other people telling me the evils of coffee. My doctor said most people on my medication take caffeine in some form to stay awake during the day. No bigs.

I love the taste of coffee and yes I love Sweet N Low. My therapist is on one of those all white stuff, flour, sugar, cocaine (just kidding on that last one) is bad for you.

Anybody else NEED coffee or they go binge eating and feel whiny and biotchy and clingy?

I don't need coffee at all, can't stand it in fact although it smells good.

Research has shown coffee reduces the risk of cancer so you had better drink it if you can.

I lose weight by diet and exercise when I have to. Hmmm, better start exercising again, it's been two months and my incision has healed.

Why would you give up coffee? It is an appetite suppressant.

Thank you everyone for all your support. The surgon said is be a good candidate for the gastric bypass :) I attended a pre operation class on the bypass. I now just need to continue on my diet for at least two more months. The Dr.. stressed cutting out as many carbs as possible. and he was pleased with how much I've been swimming. My official weight is 400.8. My next step is a psyc evaluation. Then plumanary and cardiac clerance and then wait for insurance approval. Hope everyone has a great day. :)

This is very good news, Penny. I know people who have had bariatric surgery and it is NOT a "gimme" path. It's serious business for serious people and you have to jump through a lot of hoops and be prepared to change your life. Not everyone is a good candidate but clearly, you are doing the right things for the right reasons. I'm so proud of your efforts and your determination. Kudos! Keep it up!

A long time ago, metalwing posted a recipe for talapia microwaved in pasta sauce with olives on it. Sounds weird, but I tried it and it was delicious! Go dig through the recipe threads or just give it a go. An interesting way to make a yummy dinner super simply!
