Hey everyone. Most of you know me but for those of you who don't . . .Im Penny :).
As of last week I started a Dr. supervised diet. I also gave increased the amount that I exercise.
I am morbidity obease and desperately want to be healthier. My Dr is lookingvinto getting weight loss surgery approved for me. but that takes time and any weight I loose before surgery will help my to recover better . SO . .
Im starting this thread to get support.and give support to anyone else who is trying to loose weight.
please feel free to share healthy recipes, dieting tips, weight m.ore goals and accomplishments and if you get discouraged let me know I'm awesome at pep talks .
Today is June 22,2012 and I weigh 404 pounds I am on a 1500 calorie a day diet and I swim 3 or more times a week for exercise.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. :)

Penny; you certainly have my support. May I suggest lifting weights. I started with 2 pound weights and worked my way up. I also do stationary biking and started on a recumbant bike as my body was knees were too damaged to use a regular stationary bike. Also; take some walks for exercise. Some of my fave foods are spinach wraps, spinach smoothies, spinach salads, steamed asian foods, seafood, and of course I drink lots of water. If I crave something sweet; I drink Aloe vera juice or eat different types of fruit. Good luck in your weight loss.

I love sea food!!! What a bonus that they are high in protein.
I had a lobster roll last week. It was soooo delicious.

Each little goal adds up. :) I swim everyday weather permitting. while in the water I do water aerobics . I'm up to doing 100 of each. . .jumping jacks, leg lifts, dolphin kicks, pullups. total I spend at least an hour a day in the pool. :) next step is adding some ankle wrist weights.

Hey Penny..
Whats the latest?
I cheated the other day with a Hagen Das barpitchfork
It was delicious but ruined me for like 3 days.
Watch out for imitation crab, I hear they make it out of some nasty bottom feeder fish that no one wants.

Things are going good. I've increased my work out in the pool. I've had a few days that I went over my calorie limit but I didn't let it get me down. I go back to the Dr. On Tuesday for weigh in. my biggest issue is I tend to want to snack when I'm bored and watching tv I need to find an inexpensive hobby I can do at home to keep me busy.

How about knitting? All you need is yarn and a pair of knitting needles.

I hear ya on the snacking. I can only eat every two hours and the last 1/2 hour is torture. So I read a book, go outside and water something, take a nap, sew, gotta try knitting.
I can't wait to hear what happens on tuesday:banana:

That you've identified your weakness related to snacking/tv/boredom is really stellar! Knowing is the first step to making the healthy changes you are seeking.

All the craft suggestions are great, too! I like to keep my hands busy - it really does help!

How about making journal notes about your day or write handwritten notes to people (getting real mail is such a treat!) Even doodling is amazing and can be really therapeutic...

Yeah I know how to crochet but I haven't done it in a while. I think ill either start that up again or quilting. II can crochet or quilt baby blankets and donate them to a local center that helps new moms. :)
Thanks for all the awesome ideas everyone. you guys are terrific :)

My frist goal was to weigh under the 400 mark which I achieved two weeks ago. My next goal is to weigh less than 385 . . . That's he heaviest ive been before and dieted and got down to 300. I'm hoping to reach my 385 goal on Tue. when I go to the Dr. I don't weigh at home my next goal is 350. I'm now officially on my 3rd month of dieting and exercising. I have to be on a Dr supervised diet 6 months before my insurance will approve bariatric surgery. This journey is not only jaunt me a healthier physically but mentally as well because its helping me realize how I've always used food to cope with my emotions. Thank you to everyone for all the kind words and support.
