slander: To recover in a libel or slander suit, the plaintiff must show evidence of four elements: that the defendant conveyed a defamatory message; that the material was published, meaning that it was conveyed to someone other than the plaintiff; that the plaintiff could be identified as the person referred to in the defamatory material; and that the plaintiff suffered some injury to his or her reputation as a result of the communication.

Slander and libel lawsuits differ in the way that a prima facie case must be proven. In the case of slander, the defendant doesn't have to prove that the statements he made are true; instead the plaintiff has to prove that the defamatory statements made against him are false. In other words, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff

laugh I was thinking more along the lines of morals and ethics....

oh , I see

I think what is implied about welfare recipients in the op is morally slanderous too,,,,

laugh

Well at least that young lady didn't single out one specific person like you did....And as you pointed out, she probably speaks for many others who share her feelings about welfare fraud...

nope and singling out a group is so much better than singling out one person,, probably why we hear so little about people like Hitler, who was only one person,,,,,

Me thinks you do protest too loudly msharmony.....Valid concerns are valid concerns.....In fact, I think the young woman referenced in the OP has more reason to complain than someone my age...After all, the weight of carrying the "needy" will fall on her shoulders much more than mine as a retired person or yours as a self proclaimed welfare recipient....

based upon what? is she guaranteed to be amongst those who pay taxes? is she guaranteed to be paying a higher tax rate for longer in her lifetime than I or you will?

her concerns may be valid , her solutions are hateful and insulting

Don't put words in my mouth Harmony..Guarantee is your word not mine...My post is reasonable based on the OP's description of the young lady....

From what I have found....it wasn't written by a 21 y/o lady.

http://silencedogood2010.wordpress.com/2010/12/21/put-me-in-charge/

It was written by Alfred W Evans in 2010 and he is retired so I;m thinking he is older than 21

Apparently this ridiculous story has gone viral on the Internet and I have yet to find out who this 21 year old girl is or proof that she wrote the alleged article.

asleep asleep asleep
does it really matter who wrote it?

Not to you guys apparently.laugh

(But yeh, it matters if someone is going to claim "slander and libel.laugh " That sounds like fear mongering and sounds like someone attempting to discourage people from voicing their own honest opinions.

The article was written purposely as an opinion piece and people should not really take it seriously as anything other than that. ( The 21 year old girl probably does not exist so she could never be 'put in charge' of anything.)

It's probably a viral email and it is all over forums all over the internet so pretty much a non topic.

I'm outa here cause its so boring.

yawn

That article is quite old. I remember it being circulated maybe 10 years ago?

rofl rofl rofl

That's how far the public's thinking has come.

Not very far.laugh

"We have a constitution that allows people the right to the pursuit of happiness.
It doesn’t mean the government will take care of them, it doesn’t mean the government will give them free medical, dental, vision care, housing, food, vehicles or anything. It means they have the right to pursue these items and to be able to get a job and an education and improve themselves.
They want me to support them then I have the right to tell them where to spend my money and on what. Bag of rice, sounds good to me as does the rest of the letter by Mr. Evans."

Here is his comment from http://www.blackshards.com/?p=2415

Thanks for posting my letter. I wrote it as a letter to the editor at the Waco (Texas) Trib. My cousin (a Democrat) works on Ft Hood and a co-worker handed him his I-Phone and asked him to read a letter his brother in Mich had sent him. Half way through it he said “My cousin could have written this” and as he scrolled down he saw my name. It’s a small digital world.

I googled “Put me in charge” and found it on many sites. Thanks again for getting what I consider common sense out to the people.

I could have misread but it seems he is attributed to this letter before the date of the OP

Yeah, because no one ever needed any assistance with anything. Everyone can get through life on their own, no need for any help from any one else. Those who need any kind of help with anything are just useless and lazy, they should all just learn to get through life on their own. Because everyone knows, we sure as hell didn't get any help from no one... ever.

Looking at the two opposite sides of the spectrum. I mean this man would put his life on the line for The USA. And the lovely third Generation Welfare Receivables, who never put any effort into a society that works and contributes for them to have shelter and food.

and the 'welfare' receivable would WORK too if they could find it

military are paid by taxes, should we restrict what they buy to eat or where they live as well?

after all , who is anybody to declare what someone is 'contributing'

are mothers raising healthy, productive children not contributing as much as a soldier who hangs out on a ship during peacetime keeping it clean and learning to shoot a gun or cook?

is the person working BESIDE another person in a job not deserving of the same FREEDOM with the money/resource they are earning because it doesnt come from the same source?

companies dont just HIRE anyone, but they sure as hell are willing to work them for 'free', saving them wages, benefits, taxes, etc,,,,

or should those who cant find employment or lost employment just not be able to work or RECEIVE any thing for their work, because it comes from the wrong payroll?

the class bigotry is astounding in this country,,,

laugh waving

Each case has a story. You can't judge the welfare system just because there is some fraud going on.

And even if there is some fraud going on, so what? Look at what the International banksters are getting away with every day of the week!

And they are never held accountable for it. They steal billions! They do insider trading.... legally. They lie, they steal. They are OUTLAWS, and criminals and worse.

And all of the Income tax you pay goes right in their pockets to pay for the the interest on the money they loaned into circulation on your backs because YOU are the colatoral.

Do any of you complainers understand any of that? I don't think you do. If you did, you would not waste your time whining about the welfare system and praising a stupid Internet viral (made up) story by an alleged 21 year old girl or 'soldier' or who ever you think wrote it.

And no, it does not mean anything MORE just because now you believe a soldier wrote it instead of a 21 year old girl.

geeeze I can't believe it.
