So which do you do?

I'm not much on talking the talk, but I do walk the walk by making sure everything I do is "explainable" to God. That is, I think of my Christianity before I do something.

So do you just recite the Bible and don't apply it to daily living, or do you? Either, or, both?

Remember Jesus said it is not what comes out of your mouth that condemns you, it is what lies in your heart. Use your heart and "live" the Bible, it is actually quite easy.

Just wanted to give out food for thought....

I can't say I absolutely do everything perfect. But my life is God's life. God gave me this life, why not give it back? These verses came straight to mind when you asked this question. And also keep in mind with these verses, it's not referring to works such as sacrificing animals and what not, for that is not something we are to do anymore. These works are referring to your everyday life.

In a sense all in all, even if a person just claims to be a "Christian", unless they walk the walk, they are a liar by claiming to be a "Christian". Or as the saying goes, actions speak louder then words.

James 2:14-22
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Noone is going to admit to just talking the talk. Their words and actions show you who does what. Me, God comes first, but being very independant, I have to remember to get out of the 'driver's seat' and pray before I make choices.

Maybe they won't admit, but the whole idea was to get them to think about it. Too often verses are quoted as a rote response.

( a quote I like )

Character
Be careful of your thoughts . . .
For your thoughts become your words.

Be careful of your words . . .
For your words become your actions.

Be careful of your actions . .
For your actions become your habits.

Be careful of your habits . .
For your habits become your character.

Be careful of your character . . .
For your character becomes your destiny.

A paradox, I have been asked what church I go to because people said I was the most Xian person they had ever met; I have also been called a Buddha. But this has happened at work. When not in work mode, most people call me a devil.

To talk the talk AND to walk the walk
will surely prove to be a double blessing!

I believe that you already walk the walk
And you have a testimony which may be your ministry!
Someone will be blessed by your story!
Tell them where your strength comes from!

God is still working with me

too many good intentions and selfish inclinations in my heart sometimes cloud my judgment of the justice and faith in Gods word,,,

What's important is...You are a child of Almighty God, Msharmony!

Walk in His blessings and walk in His strength!

His Word says that if your heart condemns you...

HE is GREATER than your heart!

God is not overwhelmed by your weaknesses!

He is your RIGHTEOUSNESS, and He is your STRENGTH!

If you live your faith you are doing both! I don't usually talk much, I let my actions in how I live speak for me. In other words, i am not as rambunctious as here, where I let my hair down!

josie68 I find that really sad.
I hope you have not turned away from God, because the more time you spend with him (in the word and through prayer) the more He will do the work in you and transform your life and you will want to walk His way and will be exited when you get the chance to share with others. God says draw near to me and i will draw near to you.

1 John 2:15
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the father in not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life is not of the father but is of the world. And the world is passing away and the lust of it, but he that does the will of God abides forever."
If you love God you cannot love the world. You may fall into worldly things but it will go against the grain of your true affection.
