some interpretations say thou shalt not murder (which is only illegal killing, something by definition that cant be done by the law/authorities)

What about, "thou shall not allow killing"?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_shall_not_murder

But now,in the common usage it has become,Thou Shalt Not Kill, actually making Sheeple out of Man!

You shall not murder sometimes translated as You shall not kill, KJV Thou shalt not kill (LXX οὐ φονεύσεις, translating Hebrew לֹא תִּרְצָח lo tirṣaḥ), is a moral imperative included as one of the Ten Commandments in the Torah,[1] specifically Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17.

The imperative is against unlawful killing resulting in bloodguilt. The Hebrew Bible contains numerous prohibitions against unlawful killing, but also allows for justified killing in the context of warfare, capital punishment, and self-defense.

Killing a sick murderer solves the problem of him ever killing again.
Locking murderers up doesn't stop them from killing. Ask the man in his cell with him, oh, sorry you can't, seems he was murdered too.slaphead

Yesterday on the news it was announced that Texas would seek the death penalty for the woman who killed another woman in cold blood for her three day old baby. The killer apparently was depressed because she had recently lost her own child.

Any thoughts?

She probably won't get the death penalty. Maybe an insanity plea and she gets help.

It's an interesting story.

SPRING, Texas — The Montgomery County District Attorney will ask for the death penalty for Verna McClain.

McClain, 30, is accused of killing Kala Golden Schuchardt and abducting her 3-day-old baby outside a Spring pediatric clinic last April.

Montgomery County investigators said that McClain had been pregnant with her fiance’s child and the couple was planning to marry in May. But after she suffered a miscarriage, investigators said McClain decided to find another child and convince her fiancé it was his.

Investigators said McClain went to the Northwoods Pediatric Center Tuesday specifically to find a woman with a baby.

"We think she knew the patterns of the pediatric center because she’d taken her children there in the past," said Lt. Dan Norris with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Kala Golden had taken her baby to Northwood Tuesday for a checkup. When she returned to her truck, McClain was waiting with a handgun, according to authorities.

"An altercation erupted with the suspect. The suspect shot Kala several times, then took the child from the pickup," said Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Gage.

Despite her wounds, deputies said Golden tried to get the baby away from McClain. The suspect hit the dying mother with her car as Golden reached into the Lexus screaming, "My baby!" according to Norris.

An Amber Alert was quickly issued for Keegan, and Golden was rushed to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands, where she died.

Keegan was found unharmed hours later with McClain’s sister.

McClain was arrested and remains jailed without bond.

In an interview with KHOU 11 News a few weeks after the shooting, McClain spoke about the crime.

"One day, I’m a law abiding citizen, a mother who’s never done anything wrong. The next, I’m a monster," she said.

McClain was despondent throughout much of the jailhouse interview, breaking down and sobbing uncontrollably in the room.

"I’m nothing like what these people are making me out to be. I’m the same person everybody knows and loves," said McClain. "Don’t sit and look at me as if I’m some sort of monster. I’m not. Until you know the facts, don’t sit and judge."

"Right now, I’m so paranoid I don’t know who to trust," said McClain. "Mentally, I’m borderline."

McClain's mother said recently she doesn't believe her daughter will get a fair trial.

I do think she would have a bit of a problem passing off the baby as her own.

Retaliatory Force

The basic political principle of the Objectivist ethics is: no man may initiate the use of physical force against others. No man—or group or society or government—has the right to assume the role of a criminal and initiate the use of physical compulsion against any man. Men have the right to use physical force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use. The ethical principle involved is simple and clear-cut: it is the difference between murder and self-defense. A holdup man seeks to gain a value, wealth, by killing his victim; the victim does not grow richer by killing a holdup man. The principle is: no man may obtain any values from others by resorting to physical force.

“The Objectivist Ethics,”
The Virtue of Selfishness, 32

It is only as retaliation that force may be used and only against the man who starts its use. No, I do not share his evil or sink to his concept of morality: I merely grant him his choice, destruction, the only destruction he had the right to choose: his own. He uses force to seize a value; I use it only to destroy destruction.

Galt’s Speech,
For the New Intellectual, 135

The principle of using force only in retaliation against those who initiate its use, is the principle of subordinating might to right.

that is a good question

I am not sure if our judicial system is about punishment, safety, or revenge

I think in the case of mentally ill, they are still a danger intentionally or not

so there definitely needs to be some 'seperation' from the general public,, whether that is with cold hearted killers or with other unaware and mentally ill people is the tough choice,,,

so did I initially, but mixed babies have a diverse range of genetics to pool from, they can come out in ways many unfamiliar with genetics would be surprised to see

huh Who said anything about getting joy from killing?

Is there another straw man argument that you want to try?

Also, the execution of a person who is actually guilty of first-degree murder solves the issue of just punishment.

No matter how you try to dance around the fact, execution is just punishment for someone who actually commits first-degree murder.
