It's TOE the line, everyone! Not "tow." Meaning, to put your toes exactly on the line in the sand, so everyone knows where you stand. NOT meaning to drag a rope behind you.

I just saw this in an actual news article and it pushed me over my limit. No offense to anybody here. But also, please don't tell me how petty I am for being annoyed by misuse of words. I get to complain once a year. (New rule I just made up.)

The one that gets me is "should of" instead of "should've" (should HAVE).

For example: I should've answered the phone when Mom called...now I'm in trouble. embarassed

It always bugs me when people say "I could care less," when they really mean "I couldn't care less."

My rant is jaywalkers. One guy last night stepped out in front of my car; I had to hit the brakes hard and almost got rear ended. I hit the horn and he had the nerve to not only give me the finger but came over to my car and start hitting my car. I normally would let that go but I lost it and got out of my car. Told him to get away from my car or I would knock him on his butt. Damn jaywalkers.

Mine are the people who visit the same fast food restaurant day after day, yet still feel the need to stare at the freaking menu board as if it changed since the day before, and will do this at the register for about 5 minutes, not only holding up the folks behind the counter, but the ones standing in line behind them.....

Good Lord people, get what you really want and get the heck out the way!!!

News flash on that complaint: Even if a person is jaywalking, they have the right of way over any vehicle but if you hit a person inside of a walk way, you are in bigger trouble.

Bottom line though, pedestrians have the right of way. It is not legal to run them down. Too bad.laugh

Yup, English language skills are sorely lacking in a lot of folks
these days, even in the press.

And why do I always get behind the guy in the buffet line who has to
slowly pick over every single piece of chicken or shrimp on the table before deciding he really wants beef?

My complaint would be a fast food restaurant where you are faced with a dozen choices and a menu on the sign where you order and an impatient person standing behind me getting annoyed while I try to read the menu and decide what I want.

It would be nice if they had a regular menu to read that I could hold in my hand.

Don't be so impatient. Some people don't know what the specials are. Not everyone is in as big a hurry.

That's good information. I would have used "tow." Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you though. I was not aware of what that meant.

Yes; they have the right of way; however if I had gotten hit by the car behind me; the pedestrian would have been charged and I could also sue him for injuries. Jaywalkers here are being forced to take responsibility for their actions. We had a jaywalker just a few weeks ago get hit but no severe injuries. The driver did not get charged as it was dark and extremely icy here and the pedestrian was at fault. Having the right of way; doesn't mean you can do what you want when crossing the street.

I jaywalk all day. Sometimes, I'll stand at an intersection, then run down about 20 feet just so that it'll be considered jaywalking. Okay, not really, but I jaywalk like mad. There's no way in hell that I'm going to the end of the block to cross the street. Everyone needs to keep their eyes open. If you can cross Gratiot or Woodward Ave. in Detroit during rush hour then if you get hit by a car jaywalking anywhere else, it is the driver's fault.

Rant:

Detroit, I love you, you desolate, desperate, despondent, disintegrating, dilapidated, first-year-photo-student's wet dream, but you pass some of the dumbest policies I've ever heard of. Why the hell do the lights stay on here, but get turned off in downtown after 9? Do you have any idea how hard it is to find my dealer's house in the dark?

I would hope people are using sayings that they understand.

Well; then stay out of Calgary as the policy here is not to lay blame just on the driver as the pedestrian is also held accountable. Back in Manitoba; you would get 150 fine for jaywalking if cops caught you. As I said; when its icy here as it normally is in Canadian winters then you take the chance that the car won't be able to stop; so only a complete moron would walk out in front of car knowing that the car may not be able to stop in time.

Why is it, that whenever all the family are celebrating something together, one of my step sisters usually almost ruins it by having some dramatic outburst? It's rude and comes across as very ill-mannered. She does it every time. At least do it away from the party setting, or have the damn courtesy to wait til everyone's gone home. It makes me wince with shame. And now it's making everyone in the family think she's a spoilt brat. Awful when one family member tries to show you up. I still love her very much, but why do it on christmas day or any other family event? Eek :/. Awkward.

That seems to be a common theme in family get togethers whether Christmas or any other time of year. We always fought on Christmas day and it usually ended up in violence. So; Christmas didn't hold many good memories for me.

shocked
Jaywalking is illegal in some states there is a fine. Detroit is a large and very high crime rate city. The City should have extra lights all night round the clock.

Well wow, I guess I provided a service, then. Who knew? I had no intention of doing that. My rate is, hm, let's see, I think $100 an hour would be sufficient. Paypal accepted, or I would consider a horse in trade.
