I would never ask that...it would be selfish.
To really love someone, is to want THEM to be happy.

It's easy to say what we 'would' do when we are not faced with that situation. It really depends on each person and situation.
How deep is the love you have? How much did you share? Was it more positive than negative? Did that person set a high standard?
How easy or hard would it be to find that kind of love again?
