I am pretty new to this site and have noticed something very strange so far since I've been here. I just have a feeling that something isn't right. I have been getting messages from "American" men. (according to their profiles) that sound strange. At first I thought maybe they weren't the best spellers or good at grammar, writing, made a typo etc...whatever. It happens. But in one of the first messages I got, as I started writing back and forth, I picked up on it and noticed that the way they were talking was different than how they wrote in their profile. The personality seemed different and how tthey worded things didn't sound right. Or words they used the wrong way. Just not typical american talk. Even with bad gramma, typos and spelling, I can tell it's an american dude I'm talking to lol. It sounded like broken English and how a foreign person would talk. Plain and simple. And as I started asking questions and they asked me questions, I just knew this wasn't the person in the profile I was talking to. So after that I kinda thought maybe it was a one time thing and didnt think about iet until the next message...I started noticing the same thing again! And so it kept happening. A pattern and similar style of writing, and it keeps happening. 99.9% of the messages I've received are like that. I have only had one or 2 legit people message me. Every single message Ive been getting is a fake foreign man. I don't really trust any message I get now. I'm leary and skeptical and don't know what to believe now. Even if its a real man I don't know if I could believe it. I don't know what to think. I don't think there is anyone real on here lpl. I'm weirded out and it has pretty much ruined it, and not even sure I should bother with this site. It seems like a waste of time. Does anyone else notice this or have an idea what is up with this? It just seems out of control. Also, I did type this from a phone, so don't judge MY grammar lol

yes, they are people from other countries trying to get you to fall in love with them and send them money. a real winner was "from" Texas, couldn't write english correctly, "cut" for cute, with Big Ben in the background of his "picture". Another said "I love your smile" but I'm not smiling in my picture. They usually say that they're widows so you'll feel sorry for them.I too feel pretty yucky about this, especially when, in good faith, you answer one of these jerks.sad

Hi ST dont feel alone it happens to all of us.Their profiles have been copied and pasted and they are all looking for an honest caring and sometimes God fearing woman.Ask them about the town they come from and they will not answer. Just delete and block and be careful. Learn to ask questions that will dig out the scammers.BTW I think the internet is infested with them -pity we cant spray them like cockroaches:smile:

I have very stupid question.

The gal that opened this thread has one post.

How, pray tell, could she have heard it 100's of times?

I never was very good at maffamactics.

I have the same thing with female profiles messaging me. First one caught me a bit offguard but the rest I have just simply deleted every now and then.

Atm it seems that those, who I want to chat with, never reply back and those who msg first, are scammers. But then again I'm new here. Last time when I used forum, it took me around 3 months to find someone interested in a relationship. I see no reason why it should go any quicker now.

And here are the people who make these profiles:

Does anyone else notice this or have an idea what is up with this?

Every dating website you use is going to have some kind of "Scammer."

At best when you speak to someone you talk about specific local things and places that they've done or are doing and where you would go for a date.

If you are trying to fall in love online, you are going to get played.
If you are trying to get off this site and actually date, it's going to be a million times harder to scam you. At least for overseas/foreign "scammers."

Figure out what you want from online dating.
If you want to sit online and chat and emotionally masturbate, then simply keep talking to anyone that emails you and have fun, try not to send anyone money though, if you do that then it really doesn't matter if they are scammers or not.

If you want to date, then figure out what you have to do in order for you to feel secure enough to meet off here as quickly as possible and date someone.
But do realize the more you look for an emotional connection online the more emotionally vulnerable you are going to make yourself, making you a sweeter target for those that are going to exploit you.

Let me say this most men pull scams. They let you know that they are single but really they got someone already. Not only is he hurting his girlfriend but he is hurting the women he is chatting with because they think they have found someone. There is this lady that I know that here soon to be husband was on these dating sites. He been chatting with this lady and made her believe that she was the one. He told her he will be dreaming of the days when they kiss. But when his girlfriend found out about it she sent the woman a email letting her know that he got someone and how they are getting married. That poor woman cried her heart out. Men are pigs from hell!

Dear Simplething - we all (men and women alike) get hit on by scammers. They are not picky at all as to who they go after. They can pretend to be whomever or whatever they like, whatever age, etc. and they can be women pretending to be men or vice versa - whatever they think might work. They'll tell you everything they think you want to hear. Sounds almost perfect but in your gut you know it doesn't feel right.
There are scammers on all dating sites and chat sites all over the web! Please be careful and of course don't let them draw you away to "better" communicate on your own personal e-mail account. And never send them money even if it's just a few dollars!

There are awesome people in the forums both men and women and it's a great place to chat about everything or nothing, play word games, etc. These are real people who really do care.
Welcome to Mingle2 and I hope you do find what or who you are looking for. flowerforyou

JDR - There are thousands of women that pull scams - it is NOT unique to men at all.
With your last sentence, what the heck are you doing on a dating site?
Putting your best foot forward I see!
