What is feeding our subconscious to make us perceive time to be accelerating at such a rapid pace?

Wait til Thanksgiving and the theory of relativity. Time seems to go slower after turkey and when with your relatives.

Iv heard that the older you get, the faster the perception but there's something more to this, you ask anyone nowadays they will always agree, regardless of age

If a 5yo has to wait 6 months for something, that is 10% of their life. As you get older....6 months?....it's a blink.

Trying to apply a definitive answer, to a perception, of a non-linear measurement of motion, using extremely inaccurate measuring equipment with constantly shifting variables is an abject lesson in futility. More fun to play Tic-Tac-Toe, with yard darts. Same principles, different scale.

If you're a student of Gerontology (the study of aging), then it will be explained by the theory that as one matures (ages), novel inventions leave us in the dust and the compounding of these new - and unfamiliar - introductions to our every day lives make it seem like life is speeding up. In addition, as one ages (which everyone does from the moment they are born), one becomes more aware of their own mortality, making one feel there is "never enough time". If you study Sociology, it will be confirmed that since the Industrial Age - and especially with the introduction of the Information Age - life IS speeding up, as we come up with quicker means of innovation; yesterday's novelties become today's dinosaurs, seemingly literally overnight. In other words, generally speaking, you are correct...AND you are not alone in feeling that way, regardless of your age.

No matter what, time moving slower or speeding up. Humans and animals alike, will always die. So just grin and bare it. Attempt to enjoy some things that happen in life. And remember we all have a mortal end.

perception of time can depend on the activity involved. waiting five minutes to find out if an artery sealed seemed like an eternity. spending three hours over dinner and talking when I met a mingle buddy seemed like a few minutes.
