I love my job...seamstress...but my co-worker sooo needs to retire...she's my superior and this morning informed me that she decided that we are not doing rush orders...our military boys have an inspection on Saturday...they just got in their rank patches...had to turn down over $300.00 dollars worth of work just today that I can do blindfolded...wow...and I can't outsource...so not cool!!!!! But I do love my job:banana:

Wow....blindfolded! You must be so good at it. Maybe, you should start on getting orders elsewhere and then you could be your own boss.flowers
...ok..my bad, maybe not blind folded...but Not meaning to sound vain or over confident... I am one dang good seamstress... Honestly I thought this line of work would be to unpredictable and hit and miss work to do on my own...but I know better now...Hate to say it but right now I am staying put for the insurance...my eye and dental kicks in this March..and I really can't sew blind...lol..but hoping by summer I will be an independent.. flowerforyou

LOLlaugh laugh ...KLHeart, I know what you mean about 'blindfolded'! I am good in my job too, and I can do routine things automatically and without thinking about it!

Anyway, just my opinion.... I was working for others too, but now I am my 'own boss'! So, just jump when the opportunity knocks....but don't burn the bridges just yet, until you are on firm ground! Good luck to you!flowerforyou

I love my job as photo radar for the police. Its close to my home, I get paid well; I can go anywhere in the city I want; take my breaks when I want, only work 40 hours(actually about 32 after meals and workouts), and I get 4 days off. Also; if I work even 1/2 hour of OT; I get 5 hours of OT. As well; I wear a uniform which is no cost for close and if the weather gets bad like it did two nights ago; I get to stay home for a snow day and still get paid. My boss is a hoot and we have lots of fun during team building days. Best job ever. bigsmile

Any more vacancies??? laugh

Actually we are still hiring. Had a few people retire and looking to expand our teams.

Navygirl, wish I were somewhere near where you were....always did fancy police/army work! When I was 18, I nearly joined the forces, even got the application forms...but the pay was low and I needed the money....so, that's that!

Never liked any of my Just Over Brokers (jobs). I love what I do now though and it pays the bills.

i was an astronaught, but the traveling got a little tedious & im quite afraid of heights. The locals spoke a language i had never heard before. But it was a lifting experience & i one day realised i needed to come back down to earth

I retired from the restaurant biz after 20 years and I am trying something new.To be honest no, I do not love it but it is a steady paycheck until I find something else.I also realize that some of my friends do not have a job and are struggling so no whining on my part at all!

drinks I did enjoy my work! 18 years over the road, seeing all of the United States and some of Mexico and Canada from a windshield! Gained a lot and lost some. Now not so much after 38+ years! drinks

I love my jobs. They are interesting and satisfying. I don't however like some of the politics that accompany them but overall they are thoroughly enjoyable.

no...not anymore, because I have a very non-compassionate boss.
I have been here 21 years, he is my most recent..and worst..

Sorry for ignoring this thread....being in my shell! And thanks everyone for sharing.

So, whether we love our job or not, we still need to work for whatever reasons applies to each of us. Whether it is to pay the bills or just to fill our time, or loving being productive, or just loving what we do!

Seems some of us just hates our boss.....I guess some bosses can be 'unbearable'! However, in my years working for bosses...I found that we can find ways to make it work even when the bosses are 'terrible'. I found I had been able to 'handle' those bosses that everyone hated and there were times I even rebuked them if I had grounds to! Sometimes bosses just have to be shown that the real bosses are actually the 'employees'.

And if it just doesn't work no matter how we try to adjust to working with these kind of bosses.....then, just 'fire' them! Get a new job.... I've done that too, and sometimes, it may be for the better!

I don't have a job. I had an accident 2,5 yrs ago and sustained neck injury. It took me quite some time to sort of recover from that - think I had head injury or at the very least a very serious concussion, as I hit my head really very hard, twice.
I'm fine now, but I can't do everything I could do before the accident. If I can sit up straight I have no problem whatsoever. So I can work on computers easy-peasy. But anything that requires looking down (like when you're reading a book) for more than 5 minutes, I can not do. Which includes entering data from forms, copying lots of paperwork (more than 5 mins), doing paperwork etc etc.

I got a work coach who's supposed to find me something I can do, but so far to no avail. I've tried several things, but almost every job requires something I can't physically do anymore, usually stupid little things.
It's mostly management jobs I can do, and I got the capacity to do that, but not the qualifications. And there's so few jobs around, I can simply forget about that. In this area it's mostly engineer work and cleaning holiday homes.

I don't mind to be honest, I needed the time to recover from that horrible accident, and I also needed time to find my feet after a real bad relationship.
Right now feel I'm ready to get going with my life again, so I'm working on what I want to do and can do. Probably a combination of a part-time job and what makes me really happy: workshops on personal & intuitive growth and development.
Would also help if I could sell paintings on a regular basis.

...So, tell what do you like about your job and why you chose it! Was it your 1st or 2nd choice....

I love my career, which I 'fell into' 30 years ago. I fell in love with it about 2 months in when I discovered people will pay me good money simply to be a *biaotch*,

something I would gladly do for free. biggrin
