Top five...No way!...This is my "partial" list...

Hendrix
Clapton
Santana
Page
BB
Beck
Townsend
Vaughan
Raitt
Sambora

and how can I leave out...

Mr. Bobby (Robert) Johnson
Mr. Ted Nugent
Mr. Keith Richards...

I think who we choose has everything to do with our age and the music genres we prefer...

 Nice thread!...

Joe Perry is one of my favorites that no one has brought up.

That's because it's Brad Whitford that's the real guitarist of Aerosmith.

John 5

His instrumentals are better than most of his playing with Marilyn Manson or Rob Zombie.

Considering this can be any genre, here are some country guitarists that are really good.

Roy Clark (multi-talented musician)
Vince Gill
Steve Wariner
Jimmy Olander (Diamond Rio)
Keith Urban

That's not necessarily a "Top 5," considering that Brad Paisley is in my overall Top 5, but those guys are good.

Brent Hinds, Bill Kellier, - Mastodon the more stoned the better?
Goes without saying their drummer Brant Dallior is one of the best drummers ever, his playing is unique!!
