if it is work related then I professionally put him ( or her) in their place... because I get paid to deal with that stuff. If it is personal life.. I just don't bother with that type...at all.

If someone gets on my nerves I leave. Not wasting my energy on 'em. Although Pancho's suggestion of decking them does have a nice ring to it...

Well, I just put on that easy smile I have and think to myself "how long until this conversation is over." When it's done, I thank them for taking the time to chat and move on to whatever is next. I always try to keep the eye rolls and grimaces in check until after I've left. Just because I'm annoyed doesn't mean that I have to be rude and be annoying back.
