My sister is going over to America next year. She wants to ride a motorbike with her mate across the country. Wow it's a huge country. I had another friend who ran in the NY marathon 2 years ago. Man I have to see this country. I am interested in the Amish community. I would find it hard running in those long dresses.

Amerigo Vespucci!laugh

Expeditions

At the invitation of king Manuel I of Portugal, Vespucci participated as observer in several voyages that explored the east coast of South America between 1499 and 1502. On the first of these voyages he was aboard the ship that discovered that South America extended much further south than previously thought.

The expeditions became widely known in Europe after two accounts attributed to Vespucci were published between 1502 and 1504. In 1507, Martin Waldseemller produced a world map on which he named the new continent America after the feminine Latin version of Vespucci's first name, which is Americus. In an accompanying book, Waldseemller published one of the Vespucci accounts, which led to criticism that Vespucci was trying to upset Christopher Columbus' glory. However, the rediscovery in the 18th century of other letters by Vespucci has led to the view that the early published accounts, notably the Soderini Letter, could be fabrications, not by Vespucci, but by others.WIKI

His contribution to the Craft of Navigation is probably more important than his Contribution to Exploration!

I ride thru the back roads and countryside of the North East and south on my bike whenever I can. I have met some really great people and visited a lot of small towns.

Your sister is going to be in for a wonderful experience.

Proud to be an American and a native Coloradoan! Still have so many states and countries I would love to explore! Earth has so much culture and beauty and richness that as a whole we are all people! All people should stand up and be proud and love this beautiful Earth that unfortunately we are destroying!flowerforyou

Too many people died for our freedom in America! God bless America and bless those who fought for this wonderful country.
