Any quick search will give you a multitude of pickup lines that are so bad they are funny, but do they really work?

Mine work MOST of the time...at least to "score" me an evening of conversation with my vict...er, targe...uh...subject audience.

All that is required is that you be clever, original, brief and, most importantly - funny!

AVOID "beauty" comments or cliches (read "come here often").

Only way cliches break the ice is if you spew them all in rapid succession:

"Hi, anybody ever tell you you're beautiful, did it hurt when you fell from heaven, was your daddy a thief, what's your sign, come here often?"

Now I've copyrighted all of these but you have my permission to use them  :

* "You mind if I sit here, Ugly? You look like you could use the company."

* "Why don't we get drunk and rub our bellies together"

* "Pardon me, sir" - said to an obviously feminine person. Ladies, you can use, "Pardon me ma'am"

* "I was standing over there and noticed the most interesting thing about you. But lemme get out of here and let you enjoy your evening." You are going to get stopped when you turn to leave...at least until she finds out what makes her so interesting - so have something prepared like, "I can tell when you're going to laugh at something cause you scrunch your nose right before you do"

* Slip em a napkin with a modern twist on an age old favorite scribbled on it: "I like you, do you like me....check one, YES - NO" with your electronic contact info at the bottom

* One of my favorite and simplest, "I dig your shoes, you get em at Payless?" Say this and believe me, y'all's gonna talk!

Remember, you are just using a "pick up line" to promote conversation NOT to come off like some sleazy porn actor trying to get laid.

BTW, I would avoid using them at family reunions and funerals.

Having come of age during the 80s...

"Wanna screw?" is a classic that works.

"Can we f'k, or do I owe you an apology?"

The beauty of that line is, is that if she doesn't immediately slap me, odds are, I'll be getting laid .

I get called ma'am once in a while already when people approach me from behind. Maybe that means I have a nice butt? lol

Point taken lol

There are a couple odd ones that I've seen work. Not sure why, but they did.

1) A couple buds were getting shot down at the local bar and they decide they'll approach one more woman and if unlucky they are outta there. Buddy walks up to the table, cocks arm like he's about to backhand the woman and says "Dance with me b*tch or I'll crack your skull." She said yes, and two years they were married.
2) Crowded meat market bar and the line is "You are soooo cute! I would eat peanuts out of your **** to **** you." It worked.
3)Other notables for picking up someone at work. "What time do you get off and how?"
4)"Hi would you like to dance? No? Ok. So I guess that means f*cking in my car in the parking lot is out of the question then, right?"

One that actually works, and usually takes a second to 'click' and generate a smile is...."What would you like for breakfast? A call, or a nudge?"

IMO No. I always found it irritating.
I like blunt & to the point.

Pick up lines are like flirting.
Which means could be anyone & I could just be another one to them.

So a direct approach is much more personal. And even if im not interested, I still respect them.
* Flirts... I just ignore... laugh *

Somework but not many and well I am one that when I hear the standard pick up lines I kind of zone out.. Thinking is the best you got...

I want the real thing and I want to know that the person has enough confidence to be who they are.

In saying that when it is original or one I haven't heard I do laugh and it does break the ice..

I flirt and it means absolutely nothing and I am very quick to point that out to someone..

I think when I was using the pickup lines...

The one I used when I was trolling..
Wanna stimulate me... deadpanned..
wait for about 20 seconds as they are trying to figure out if they should bite or not
I used to give slow smile. small chuckle and say mentally first darlin..

For some reason that one worked better than any other to break the ice and get a conversation going...
Why I have no clue...

I was at club in D.C. and a buddy of mine was hitting on this girl practically all night. She kept rejecting him over and over but he was determine, eventually after many drinks in he practicality yelled "if the ***** is that good you can eat it yourself! " he went home with her shortly after that lol

Depends on the woman. If you use a silly pick-up line and she recognizes that you are trying to break the ice, then more times than not she will be receptive. After that it is up to you to impress her that you are more than just a pick-up line guy looking for some azz. However, with that said, my best line ever is the following......

Me: "Scuse me mam. I am conducting a survey and simply needed to ask you your opinion on this very hot issue. Mind if I ask you? "

Her: "Oh. Well then....by all means....ask away".

Me: "Excellent. Now....in your opinion....why did the chicken cross the road"?

Pure gold.

I couldn't sleep all night waiting for you to weigh in on this topic! My restless night was not in vain!

My luck, I would use that line on the ONE woman who would immediately respond, "I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned!"

Good one!

Agreed. Chickens, and their diminutive, "chicks", are right out! Besides, the absence of this fowl makes it easier for me to go through life without being hen pecked!

I've never used a pick-up line and I couldn't. I'd feel so cheap and desperate and wonder how I'd apologize for it afterwards.
Sometimes I wonder if some women do fall for it and how, or do they simply have pity for those who use them?

First came body shaming, now charm shaming?

Why would you feel the need to apologize for trying to engage a woman who strikes your fancy in conversation?

And more so, why would you apologize to a woman who rebuffed your attempt to speak to her?

It isn't a matter of "falling for it", women have advanced BS meters that are powered by fuel cells. And they don't speak to a man that approaches them out of sympathy.

While I have fun with any topic, the reality is that I view a "pick up line" as a conversation starter with a stranger when you have no knowledge of their character, personality, or marital/relationship status.

It is intended to amuse her and view you as non-threatening before you introduce the duct tape and escort her to your nondescript cargo van!

Even something as benign as "How bout this weather we're having" is a pick up line.

Heck, some fellers play all Mr. Sensitive and wishy washy to gain attention. But hey, use whatever skills or tools one has at their disposal, right?
