Are decisions made with heart better or using brains a better option?

Depends on what's being decided.

"Should I go up and talk to that attractive complete stranger?"
Heart would be better.

"Should I quit my job and spend all my money on an engagement ring to present to the hot chick at work that won't give me the time of day? To show her I'm serious, committed, and the power of my convictions?"
Brain would be better.

"I've been holding this fart in for 6 hours. I know she wants me to kiss her, but if I do we'll be making out for an hour. Should I get out of here before I completely blow things with an escaped evil fog monster?"
Better to think with the butt.

All of us are looking for love and peace. For that God has given us heart AND mind. What if our mind keeps thinking and thinking? What can we do

Some thoughts come as warnings. Some thoughts come to hinder our luck. Some thoughts are willing to say yes.

What if …. What if this love ends in a bad way? Okay, get more information. Think about the real risks. There are also good thoughts. What if I really find love???

Peace comes when both, heart and mind have finished discussing. After inner discussions and prayers I travelled to a far country for marriage. I tell you, no German travels for meeting the person for the first time, and getting married on the 5th day. No one. I found the love for my life and I have peace.

I think it depends on what decision you're making.

For instance in work I use my brain, not that I'm autocratic, I listen to others but use my own brain to decide.

Where family is concerned, my daughter for instance, she has me wrapped around her finger, so rightly or wrongly, I use my heart in this case.

The brain. Though some decisions are heartbreaking. I wouldn't have won a certain argument either way. It wasn't exactly an argument. More like reaching the right decision. Because I just couldn't get it through to some people, at a particular meeting, I walked out, because I got emotional. That was one of the toughest things I'll ever do. A medical team should always consider what the patient wants, but to totally ignore what was best for me, I have no words. Sometimes you're just not listened to, and that's that. I have no time for authoritarians who don't give a crap where their patients end up. As long as the economy is thriving, apparently nothing else matters.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I feel most of you think brain has the upper hand but I feel heart is the one which pulls all the strings. For example i see that most of the profiles here are fake and my brain says be practical and stop trying here but then my heart says try your luck and when I see a lovely face it brings back the hopes. I think we all approach profiles here due to our hearts decision inspite of knowing the odds in this site. So still do you guys think you take decision based on brain?

I thought this was a Wizard of Oz thread. Lol

Seriously though, in my past love life I made decisions with my heart. Probably where I'm going wrong there. Most other decisions I make with my brain. I think that's best.

you mean,putting Emotion above Intelligence?
Trying to Think with your Feelings?

Wow there is a majority here who thinks brain always wins, I think I gave a wrong example. Let me try another one, if you heard there is a disaster happened and someone shares you a link to donate money do think you will donate or go behind searching where the link is valid and not fake?
PS: I dont think i need to specify whether the link is share from an attractive person.

I think using them both is essential.

Being smart is meaningless if your decisions are not tempered with a kind heart. Toward your self and others.

So often people confuse their heart with their genitals and that gets them in a lot of trouble.

If you allow a person to fall in like with your mind they will be more likely to honor your heart.

I think both, but sometimes there is another one... An feeling inside, some call it gut feeling... A sense you have, intuitive feelings. They can help you too if the brain and heart can't decide. (If you know yourself well you know what I mean, and you can listen to it)

"Heart or brain?"

One is good for making music ...

... and the other is good for taking over the world.

I actually use them both... I listen to my heart then use logic to make a decision.
So both are essential

The two can't be separated, really. No matter how emotionally driven someone is, when they make decisions either good or bad, they do it because they THINK they are doing the right thing. Using that mind of theirs.

The people who say "choices of the heart" are better than those of the mind, are actually saying something else entirely. They are declaring for one thing, that the definition of "mind," is a cold calculator which ignores the very existence of emotion, and of philosophy, and for that matter, of actually fully using the mind itself.

I suppose it's possible to completely leave emotion out of the equation when making choices about relationships, but since that only happens for sociopaths, I don't think they would be a logical group to include in the discussion.

I guess I need to be more specific here. What I wanted to know was your first instinct when you see a profile. Do you think with your heart or brain?

Both are essential

The brain makes most of my decisions but takes the feelings of my heart into consideration in some matters.
