This is an interesting question steel magnolia. flowerforyou

Unfortunately I havent yet read that best selling book by steve harvey. But I think the general meaning of that statement is that a woman should maintain her softness , compassion, grace and class in her looks and behavior , but not allow her actions to be controlled by mere emotions, but rather by rational thinking like the men typically do. I think it also means that women should embody the CONFIDENCE of a man, while maintaining the graciousness of a female.

As to how a woman accomplishes this balance, I am still learning laugh

I can say that I am APPRECIATIVE, but no longer impressed by sweet compliments , promises of love and short -term grand gestures of love like my softer more naive self used to.

And that is because years of experience have taught me that a person's words , promises and loving gestures over a few days or months are not always proof of any real, deep or lasting feeling ,as I used to believe.

For some , the execution of those sweet gestures are all part of a mating ritual or hunting tactic for immediate gain.

Only consistency of behavior over time leads you closer to the truth of who someone truly is , and their true intentions toward you you. So I think a woman may consider refraining from investing all of her emotions and time on a guy until she sees some consistency of effort and kindness in his behavior toward her over time (as she does the same for him,It works both ways.

Secondly , a woman has to believe in her own worth and have her own life and goals , and not depend on any man to make her feel good about herself or depend on him to make her life useful or exciting. A man should be an added joy to your life but not the soul source of it and know that you are not the soul source of his joy either . Part of that confidence a woman feels should be rooted in the belief that the man you like is one of many fish in the sea. Most of us are sadly replacable, as reinfirced by how quickly some people move on to a next relationship after a break up or even the death of a mate. With that knowledge in mind, if this guy doesnt treat you the way you deserve, then there is someone out there that will. Believe that and keep it moving laugh

Man and woman

walk into a bar, their kid ducks.

How do you act like a lady but think like a man?

Oh.
I thought you were setting up a bad joke.
But you were just setting up a horrible joke.

You don't act like a lady but think like a man.

That's just a specious meme that one guy thought up in order to sell self help and relationship books.

All those authors have to have a hook, a gimmick, in order to be marketable.

That market rakes in billions and billions of dollars.
You know why?
Because none really work, so the people that use them have to keep going back for new ones all in the hope that the next one is going to be the lottery ticket for the easy path to getting some sort of emotional fulfillment.

And the thing is any "success" people find in those books is mostly from whatever motivated them to try something new the very first time, the first time they decided "I need to change something, I need to do something else!" and unfortunately thought buying a self help book would be the easiest path to channel that motivation, so went and got a self help book, potentially starting a horrible cycle.
That's hysterical to me.

think like a man: put yourself in his shoes and do what you think he would if it were for him.

the odds are you can not. you will never really be able to fully understand

everything about men. and you do not have to !!!!!!!!!! the best way to

understand whats going on is to read or watch video's of ''MEN ARE FROM MARS

WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS '', AND DO SOME WORK ON YOUR SELF-AWARENESS.....BECAUSE THE

TRUTH IS ''ATTRACTION IS NOT A CHOICE'' WELL NOT A CONSCIOUS ONE

ANYWAY.....   INSIDE YOU THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL,

IF SHE IS WOUNDED AND HOW MUCH WILL CAUSE HER TO MAKE UNHEALTHY CHOICES....GOOD

LUCK...

'You' actually 'don't'! Had 'you' been instrumental in doing so, 'man' wouldn't have been in need of a 'woman' to excel in life and 'perhaps' 'vice-versa'. Either 'only' men OR 'only' women would have sufficed to make this world, a 'beautiful' place (in consummate veracity), to dwell in.

IMO, every man is need of a woman, much the same as every woman is in need of a man. Let a woman act like a 'lady' (of 'substance') and a man act (and 'think') like a man (of 'meaningful' purpose).. Lo & behold! Peace & Prosperity will reign..

May I say 'Amen'?
