what were you like when you were young, hip and cool?

I was just young.
Never hip or cool.

did ya own a leather jacket?

I always had the Lands End jacket with the plaid lining.
Or a barn coat. Or a kind of blue flight coat with gold lining.
Those were all hand me downs from my dad.
Leather coats were for criminals and smart kids that wanted to be Macgyver.

have the big hair with so much hair spray it would take a hurricane to move it?

Hair spray caused the ozone hole.
So it was a time of gel.
Great big gobs of gel that shellacked the hair in place.
Women still used hair spray to make the curled moth catcher cage of their bangs.

were you sporting parachute pants?

Nylon pants.
No one tried to pull off the mc hammer look.
Otherwise it was acid washed jeans with the cuffs folded tight.

enough eyeliner ya could have passed for Cleopatra?

The only girl that tried to do that in our school was an Asian transfer student that liked to wear cutoff shorts with a garter belt and lace stockings and tennis shoes.
That prompted a lot of the other girls to start wearing stockings (rather than tights which they always made sure you knew the difference).
...I don't remember which class I had with that, nor what we were supposed to learn.
She was also a cheerleader, and during special home game pep rallies she would get all the other cheerleaders to wear their regular/sexy underwear under their uniforms, and then flash the crowd a lot.
...Those were the only rallies I never skipped.
Amish girls always wore the most makeup in the community.

Otherwise the most common makeup was beige Oxy acne cream.

What girls wore the most of was perfume.
Each one had their own personal cloud around their locker.

Star Wars was released in 1977...
... I remember it as if it was just yesterday... taking the bus downtown to see the movie with a friend...
Feeling young hip and cool...
Renegade at heart... favorite pair of sneakers on.. leather jacket over top of a hoodie.. little black hair comb in the back pocket of my jeans... cigarette in one corner of my mouth...
..ohhh.. wait a minute I was only eleven then..lmao.... yep nothing like dating a movie to have reality come crashing back to you.... wow I could have sworn I was so much older when that came out .lol
