I am going to report in public what I have only reported in private.

Three weeks ago, my 27-year-old daughter Radiance was in a bad car accident that could have been fatal.

If you had seen her car right after the accident, then you would wonder how she survived.
Yes, the car was that bad.

Her injuries turned out to be nonfatal, although she did have to stay in a hospital for one night.

I learned about the accident when an ambulance paramedic called me.

I can't recall ever being as scared as I was when I received that call.

Has there ever been a time when a close call really frightened you?

By the way, I adopted Radiance 5 years ago when she was age 22.
Here is a photo of her and me taken the day of the adoption:

I lost my daughter in a car accident. Going to see her body was beyond terrifying.
Another dreadful moment was, after bringing my mom home from visiting my very ill dad in the hospital, answering a phone call from the the on duty nurse informing me that my dad just passed....my mom was changing clothes and I remember the utter dread waiting the few minutes for her to come out of the bedroom...and figuring out how to tell her the man she lived with for nearly 50 years had just died.

On a lighter note....I've almost stepped on my fair share of copperheads, water moccasins, and rattlesnakes while running around the swamps and woods here. Definitely a pucker factor when you look down and see big canebrake rattler right where youre about to place your footlaugh

David, I'm glad she wasn't hurt... a vehicle can be replaced but not your daughter. I had a similar experience 2 years ago with my eldest step-daughter. I got a call from the police saying she was in an accident and yes it was probably the most scariest thing I have ever felt in my life, heading to the scene my heart was pounding so hard as I didn't know what to expect. She walked away without a scratch. She hit black ice at highway speed, took out 175 ft of guardrail, went down a 30 ft. embankment and flipped my 4x4 pickup end over end twice. The pic is hard to see, (it was at night), Its my truck upside down.

By the way, my daughter was injured in her accident. She had to have two minor operations. She spent a night in a hospital for observation.

Thanks...and I can promise you I wasn't very strong for about two years afterward...I was a selfish, horrible human being....had to get strong....with the help of a faith filled mama.

David you have a beautiful daughter. I am so happy you have her in your life. There is nothing quite like a child.
So very thankful she is okay.
Like it was stated a car can be replaced a child can't be.

I drive for a job. Every day I am just amazed or scared half to deathe at the things I see people do with automobiles or while driving automobiles at seventy miles an hour or more. Be careful out there and always watch out for the other guy.

Glad to hear your daughter is okay ALF.

Sorry to hear that David...glad to hear she'll be ok...No parent should experience outliving their children.

Being a parent its easy to understand your fears,
worries and joys, when it comes to one's children.

Sorry to hear your daughter was in a bad accident.

Happy to hear she is okay and out of hospital.

Ahh you are both so lucky :-)

I got the call one day, Santa Barbara Sheriff's office.

'Are you the parent of..?'
'I am the step-parent, the father is on the golf course.'
'We regret to inform you (they really do say that) that
your son committed suicide, can you come here and handle?'

So I had to wait until his Dad came in from golfing to
tell him his only son and remaining child had killed
himself, his sister had done so many years earlier.
