Don't do it tom!
It's 'won ' money, so if buy lottery tickets with it and win will that money be won or found? laugh

Considering that I don't normally gamble (even tho I live near many casinos) anytime I have "Found Money" I feel I can lose it without actual loss.
If I use "Found Money" to gamble, any money I "win" with that money is also, to me, "Found Money" because without the original "Found Money" to take that gambling "chance" I would not "win" anything. Any "loss" I might incur from chance is only a loss of "Found Money" so I have not lost anything.

Since I don't normally possess "Found Money" I don't buy lottery tickets either. If someone gives me a scratch-off I will play it but I have never won and significant amount. If I win, I use that denomination to buy something that it covers that I would not "normally" buy.

Good recovery tom
I wouldn't have put you down as a gambling man laugh

I would first pay off debts to repair my credit

I would then give my mom what she needed to do the same

I would set her up in her own place and also invest in one of my own

I would put the remainder in CD's and live off the interest (I have a low maintenance lifestyle, which I would keep)

I'd buy a small house in the country. I might go on some road trips.

Well, I definitely need some new socks happy

And maybe some new clothes...For me too...We've been wearing the same outfit for months laugh

laugh
Yes, need some new photos for sure happy

 Me too! smile2

I have this one from a couple of weeks ago but it was a bit sunny!

Nice! I don't have any more recent ones right now, I'll have to have some taken.

Which reminds me: I'd definitely buy a decent camera, prolly an SLR or a hybrid. I SO want one!!
And a new car, nothing big or fancy, just a new car (mine is almost 17 yrs old).
But that should still allow to put enough in the bank to never having to worry about an income no more. When frugal.

Live of interest after paying of debts and houses for two people? I guess houses are real cheap in the USA?

A million bucks... WOW, what a thought. If I won that amount, I would put about half aside in something that pays good interest. I have very little in debt, so that is not a problem. The rest, buy myself a few new things I would like to have.. new tea pot maybe.. :-) also do some traveling to visit family and friends whom I have not seen in awhile. And toss them a few dollars to help them out. Of course my two cats would have the life they so badly want.. LOL

I would use it to start a business and travel the world.

Travel, give to family and favorite charities.

I think everyone overestimates what a mill will get you.

In expensive australia it will get you a house, and not much more.

Don't forget the corporation/govt has both their hands in your pockets.

You will suddenly have more relatives and friends.

And then the charities will pester you.

I'd buy a big block with a small house and a big shed, to store gear, do stuff in, and run a workshop / engineering business from it.

I know! I didn't over estimate my responses.

Well stocks are at a precipice, so that's out. Banks are pretty sketchy with withdraw limits and the whole, "it's our money until we say its your money" kind of deal. So most likely pay off my mortgage, buy and old mechanical truck (no computers on wheels), buy a motorcycle or 2 more for some fun, put the rest into building a bar.
Its not that i party hard, i actually despise alcohol, but in times of hardship and ease people will always drink.

In the US you would get about 500k on a million dollar ticket. And yes if you buy and maintain a reasonable standard of living buying 2 decent houses on 500k is not a problem. Specially in my area buy the right few acers hold it for 5-10 years and sell it for an easy double what you paid. If you if you win a million and have it in hand then yes you can secure a pretty comfortable standard of living and insulate yourself from ever being broke. You couldn't quit working right away but you could in a decade if you made the right moves with it.

A million isn’t much these days, you’d still have to be careful.

I’d probably invest in bank of Ghana or Nigeria.

I’d then go into the city centre here, find a homeless person and change his/her life, hopefully.
That would be as much for me as it would be them, so quite selfish really.

sure. The debts would take about 200 grand, and leave 800. In ohio, one can get a nice condo or home for 150 and that would leave 500 to put in cds.

I would sell my place and move farther out in the country on at least 10 acres...... with a pond and little houses for friends/family to spend the weekends with me.

Retire and hit the road traveling.... get me a small motor home to pull my trike~~~ Make sure to help those I can... along the way... bigsmile
