We never know how things are going to work out when dating someone new, but the more we know about them the better our judgement, and this only comes in spending time with them in a courtship longer than just a few months. Anyone that is 'putting on an act' is soon discovered because they cannot continue their pretence for very long in my opinion, it just takes a little time to find them out.

I think in some ways that is like asking how long is a piece of string. To feel sure about your feelings for someone, requires getting to know them very well in my opinion, and allowing the time to become best of friends, seeing common interests and goals. I would guess at least 12 months before you can be sure.

I agree with you sis Peggy...Observing the consistency of your mate seems to be the best thing to do...words and actions must go hand in hand and it is emotionally and mentally disturbing if he says about love all the the time through texts but action wise is hollow...I guess I better decide now what I really want in my life to happen

well in casual dating there wont be a second chance. In marriage i can think of giving a second chance but definitely that would be it. There wont be a third time.

If you're talking about a different person, you learn your lessons and move on. This is the least you could do after a failure. i don c why u should change into a freak in your next relationships after someone has broken your heart once.
