What is your motivation to be on this site? Searching for serious relationship, just looking, just want to find a casual partner, just trying out or what will be other motivations? I'm curious to know.

i read posts and leave comments. I find this website useful since I can interact with English native speakers. I also look forward to making some friends here.

Somebody told me there was free beer and sandwiches.

And then it turns out it was just the occasional popcorn and whine & cheese... major bummer or wot?!

I'm here for the forums. Not for a man, I have a man in my life smooched
I was single when I got here, partially to maybe find a man, partially to keep my English up to speed.
Now, 4 yrs later, I'm still here cos I like the place, the regulars. I've learnt a lot about Americans since I got here. Some things totally don't compute with my more progressive Dutch views, norms & values, but the heartfelt warmth and care from many Americans is simply wonderful.
I've learnt and felt that here as well as during my short trip to the States last year.

So not here for a man, but cos I simply like the place and its people

Sometimes it's heavy on the whine and light on the cheese.

I'm here because I am housebound and have no social life.
I'm teetering on the edge of death and the forums distract me from the pain and sickeness as I ponder the issues others place on the table for consideration.
It would be nice to find a companion but I really don't look anymore. Wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which fills faster.
I do hope someone finds me but I doubt it. I've come to the acceptance that I am unloveable and I guess I'm too much work.
Most people think I'm weird.

Sorry to say, but with such a negative outlook to life, what do you expect?
I also got serious physical ailments which prevent me from working. Meaning I have a benefit that makes it almost impossible to lead a normal life. I haven't even really got $25 to spend a month.
I have all the time in the world, but no money to enjoy any of it. If my fridge dies on me, I have a serious problem. Same for any other piece of equipment like my PC. If my 17 yr old car dies on me, I have a problem too, living in this remote yokel area with barely any public transport.

I'm in pain all day every day. Have been for some 24 years. Am I negative and depressed about it like you? Nope.
Did I think for one moment a man wouldn't want me anymore because of it? Nope.
I am a great girl, I am positive, I have goals in life, I have things I like to do, things I want to do still. Like painting, writing, drumming, giving workshops and so on.
And granted, maybe it's a little more difficult for a man when he cannot offer a woman anything. But there's also women in similar situations and/or women who don't care about all that when they love you.
But you cannot be loved unless you love yourself. No one is looking to spend their life with a negative person that drags them down. Well, another negative person maybe, but then you get picky and don't want them...

Not to have a go at you, but the glass can be half full or half empty. It's merely a choice.

Negative outlook?
I'm not depressed and I am an optimist.
I also see reality.
What I wrote was not a plea for mercy, just a statement of my own reality that I live with daily.

Considering that I am past my expected expiration date I think I'm doing pretty good.

My impression of contentment does not hinge on other people.
My health is not fair to others.
While my condition is not communicable, I don't see how its fair for me to impose my restrictions on someone else.
If a woman wants me, here I am.
I put myself out here honestly.
I treat others with respect.

Your rebuttal is supposition, CrystalFairy.
You think I have self-esteem issues if you write what you wrote.
I still have a lot to offer a woman.
I have great self-esteem and plenty of resources.
I do get lonely sometimes but I don't let it make me depressed.
I just don't believe I need to play head games anymore.
Take me as I am or don't take me. I can accept that.

What is your motivation to be on this site?

I think it's mostly habituation at this point.

Habituation? English is my second language so I had to check if that word is legit. Well I'll be darn.. it is.

If one's motivation on a dating site is just habituation, then Houston, we have a situation.

I think I need my friend Topher... he likes word game lol

I'm now wondering what the difference is between habituation and habitual?
Google is of no help with this one...
