Is Love today like the Love of Old days?

Maybe it does seem different. However, people today are less likely to tolerate remaining in a bad marriage than they were many years ago, when divorce was more of an exception, but they nearly all must have been in love when they married, just the same as those in the 'Old days'. So, love today is just the same as it has always been in my opinion.

Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search.

Yes, if it is true Love.

Love don't change it's meaning. People change it.

Thailand girls are best, they love you long time! laugh
I agree with duttoneer, many years ago people would stay together whatever but probably not in love.
It's possible that some modern people /couples confuse love with material things to.

Is Love today like the Love of Old days?

To make a comparison you must first define "Love Today" and then "Love of Old Days".

I think love is just love.
Doesn't matter if it happens in the present or happened in the past.

What may have changed is what people 'expect' love to be.

In our present trending society, people tend to over-analyze everything.
Life tends to get critiqued to exhaustion.

My dad, born in 1912, had a less specific expectation on life and love.
His generation accepted the experience without a need to figure it all out.
They were able to just go with the flow.

Dad once told me, "Love is a simple thing, you either feel it or you don't."

Yes and no.
There are more than 1 types of love.
A lot is/most are socially defined and measured.

The biological process of pair bonding leading to procreation (kids) is the same.

Other than that, practically speaking, people in general tend to conflate "love" with all sorts of things, or conflate all sorts of things and then label it "love."
e.g. Disney.

There is biology of love, and the social history of love. There is no evidence that there has been any significant changes in human biology over the last ten thousand years at least; and there is every sign throughout recorded history, that there has been no change in how people express love and what they say about how it feels to them.

The only thing that has changed, has been how the most powerful people have organized things from a legal standpoint. And that has been the most free and the most balanced, over the last fifty years or so, at least in the United States.

But one other thing that has not changed over recorded history, is that some people always make the mistake, one generation after another, of thinking that if they "follow the rules" as they perceive them, that others will be all but REQUIRED to fall in love with them, and give them the life that they think they should be allowed to expect. And generation after generation, the people who do make that mistake, are disappointed.

I think love never changes, but getting there seems quite different from the last time I dated. 30 years ago, I would never have thought I’d be chatting online. laugh

For me, from what I've seen, no. It's not the same as it once was. Many now don't seem to know what love really is. Just the other day on another thread a guy said he was here because the other woman, the woman he talked like he loved, might get killed. You may as well say he is hedging his bets. That's not love.

Many people now, they don't get married for the right reasons anymore. You look at some of these threads and you will see it. Women that say they don't need a man. Men who can't be faithful to one woman. We are a nation of separate people. We are not just politically separate. We have become emotionally separate too.
