I can only recommend patience, especially when you and/or the person you wish to date, still suffers from a previous relationship.

Send a personal message to the one you are interested in. That way you know if they. Are interested in getting to know you.

Waste of time and keystrokes. Most are not even civil enough to acknowledge a message. Go play the lottery, better chance of winning something.

I believe things develop into a relationship over some time.

Meeting someone to begin with would help... And if it then clicks, doesn't it unfold kinda naturally?
If you have problems finding someone, it can help to get clear what it is you seek in another. That can help make it easier to find someone. Most people never think about that, just go out and/or on a dating site and do whatever. But 'whatever' either doesn't work or is the long way round. Like looking for something without even knowing what you're looking for.
So getting clarity on that can be of great help.
And of course you focus on traits and personality things, unless a physical thing is an absolute dealbreaker, they're not to be part of that list.

Don't try to start anything fast .. don't rush .. won't work most likely.
However, sometimes if you're lucky enough, some of your communications may evolve into something which might look like a relationship by time .. and sooner or later will explode with a big bang and leave you empty handed and with a broken heart.
So, you've been warned, but if still interested .. start to search and communicate .. little by little it goes
..

You let it form naturally..if it is right it will just progress but you have to give your time and friendship but don't be pushy

but online ... you start a conversation. Not a "hey sexy" but touch on a shared interest ... which can be learned by reading her/his profile

On here you could start with nudges like a hug and a kiss to catch someone’s interest. If all else fails , a kick in the butt will surely get a reaction slaphead You have to get and retain the interest by reading the profile and having witty conversations. But most of all be yourself and dont pretend to be someone else ... be real but be nice too shades

If I knew how to do that I'm sure I would have been married 45 years ago!
